Just what you seem to be listining to most these days. Lately, it seems I cant stop listining to Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, and other death metal bands. I dont know why, I just like it.

Well, hyde's always my main guy.  He's a Japanese rock artist who plays solo and in the band, L'Arc~en~Ciel.  So he's a given.

Next in line, I'm loving Miyavi!  His music's going through my head all the time!  Also Japanese.

I know, very few here will know my references : (

Oh lordy, I go through a rotation, depending on my mood. Right now it's either Judas Priest, Queensryche, or Iron Maiden.

Lately Karen Matheson of the Scottish group "Capercaille."
She and Mairead Ni Mhoeniagh (Mooney) of the Celtic group "Altan" do a spellbinding duet on youtube called "Canan Nan Gaidheal" (West to the land of the Gaels" loosly translated)
Check it out, it's awesome!
Her voice was "touched by God" according to Sir Sean Connery!

Oh, and she was recently inducted into the O.B.E.
Order of the British Empire for her work in Celtic music!

Also, I've been listening to some Paul Brady stuff lately and some Stevie Ray Vaughan too.
Eric Clapton said about Stevie Ray; "Where was he when I was taking lessons?"
Oh, and in the last week or so some stuff by Natilie McMasters.

Right now,it`s Railroad Earth.They have a rock/bluegrass sound.

http://www.railroadearth.com/rre/home_page.do

Just saw them at the MagnoliaFest,in Florida.

The radio/pop thing is crappy, especially here in the northeast.
The music that moves me is usually not on the radio.

wintersbreath -> RE: favorite band at the moment? (10/30/2007 7:21:56 PM)

I am a big fan of Rodrigo y Gabriela

funny, I rarely listen to radio too--I have turned so many on to this band
The Slackers out of NYC--I can't say how many times I have seen them live, but I do know they have a cd that came out in the late 90's called The Question that I have bought at least 4 times...people hear it and steal it..

Cuffkinks -> RE: favorite band at the moment? (10/30/2007 8:27:59 PM)

Alter Bridge. (The guitarist, bass player, and drummer formerly of Creed with a different singer.) They just released their second CD. Really good stuff. Very talented band, finally with a really great singer. A throwback to metal of days gone by.
Also...Kings X. Another band that never got the recognition they deserve. Seems for the most part they're only known to musicians. Very respected band. You wanna hear some great stuff?...Check out any of their CD's.
And just to rock out...The one, the only...Aerosmith!

Phin -> RE: favorite band at the moment? (10/30/2007 8:33:44 PM)

Someone mention Queensryche ? Try "The best Man that I can".

Opeth = Blackwater Park.

Anything else that even begins to do anything for me is over ten years old. Perhaps twenty. Music was different back then, and I can tell.

Things have changed, and I don't really like it. I got around 10,000 tunes downloaded, but nothing satisfies me. Nothing. The radio can't even come close and I can't stand the gibberish they talk about. FM was meant to be a stereo hifi medium through which music would be transmitted, instead they talk about bullshit. News that isn't really news and so forth. I simply can't stand the radio anymore.

I am just about done with this, and I am thinking of taking the radio out of my car, and this is my only radio folks. I do not have one in the house, at least hooked up. And I do not want one.

Top 40, top 3,000, top 655,978,509,750,952 means nothing to me. I simply do not care what others like. I only care what I like. I'll get them what they want, and have, but I could live without it. In fact now that I got just about everything I want, I could live without P2P. Perhaps I will.

My favorite band is myself (picks up the guitar).

Be back later.

That would be me with the Queensryche mention. Hell, I've got their triryche design on my left arm.

I may be the minority, but I did not like the album "Empire" from which the song you mentioned came from. Hell, the only reason I own it is for "Della Brown" and "Anybody Listening"
