Sometime during the first or second week of April, my Sir and I are planning a vacation somewhere along the Appalachian trail. My dad and I used to hike with a group of friends every fall, but we havent gone in a long time. This will be my Sir and I's first camping vacation together that doesnt involve dressing up in funny garb and beating other people with rattan..... We are thinking of finding somewhere to camp that has lots of opportunities for day hikes, instead of trying to trail hike the entire week, Id rather be able to set up a nice campsite somewhere instead of hauling everything we need on our backs the entire week because Ive gotten lazy and no longer think I can live with 3 gallons of water, some MRE;s and a sleeping bad....although my dad and I used to do it every year....I have no idea how... So, for those of you who regulary visit the Appalachians, any suggestions or opinions about where is and isnt a good place to camp? Good hiking trails? Not too crowded in April? Whats the weather like that time of year? Any thoughts? ghita~
