ORIGINAL: yumibarb I have been put in a locking dog collar before that gave me a painful shock when I tried to go out of their house. can a person be locked into a room with these things? Does anyone else have these or were made to waer them? I would like to know. Thank you sirs. shock collars for containment work by a collar being worn, and receivers being placed on the perimeter of where the 'dog' can go. So yes, if you set the receivers for one room, that's as far as you can go. I train dogs. I have used electric collars. You have to shave the dogs neck first, so that skin to electrode contact is made on long haired dogs. Yes, we do 'play' with it. And no harm done. It has a low setting, that will not harm a human. Avoid people with pacemakers. However, most barking collars are set to incremental shocks, do it once, and shock, do it twice and slightly bigger shock. etc. Whereas the perimeter containment types are set to non incremental but slightly more intense shock. $100 get you 3 months rental here in australia. For barking dogs, they dont work btw. Especially, if your barker, is being egged on by a rottie, that likes to 'share' the shock by holding on for the zap! sodding perverts are everywhere!
