A fine evening and a question.
I am not new to SM. I find a dichotomy in practitoners of BDSM here.

Question: Fem submissives crow they are hot stuff, beautiful, independant, hard working, educated, gainfully employed, parents, and mentally stable. Pillers of their communities!

Some of the same submissives claim: broken bones, whip scars that show, bruised faces, and permanent damage are thrilling and orgasmic. You are so gorgeous hon.

Male dominants: claim they seek pure fresh meat.
Hot, sexy, pretty sweet faces and tight holes.

So: what is the reality? edit to add: there is no reality. Can any answer the question?

Thank you.

There's plenty of reality.  You're seeing it.  Anyone who actually cares to open their eyes sees through the illusions.

And the ones who don't...well you hope they don't get hurt too badly when they break through.

So, does the fact that said submissives have "broken bones, whip scars that show, bruised faces, and permanent damage are thrilling and orgasmic" negate the fact that they are warm, loving, contributing members of society?

Really looking forward to the OP answering this,
kat

I think you have answered your own question.
Reality is usually somewhere in the middle, it is so obvious most people
refuse to look at it.

Many people really do live in, DENIAL.
Denial is a lot easier to face than REALITY.

Would you prefer they announce they are supermodels when they aren't? Would you prefer to be with someone who constantly tells you how wonderful they are? Or would you not prefer to discover for yourself what characteristics a possible partner possesses that really send you?

Some subs like seeing marks, others don't. Was there a question that made sense anywhere because if so, I missed it.

Lots and lots of sweeping generalities in your words. Aside from that...What do you WANT the reality to be? It's yours to create.

Pillers of their communities!

I don't think going around your community and causing little tiny balls of fibers to form on the surface is something to be proud of.
Personally, when that happens to my stuff, I get bummed, and if I knew there was someone in my own community causing it to happen, well, let me just say that person would not be invited for tea any time soon.

So: what is the reality?

Paying the mortgage, putting food on the table, dealing with the IRS, scrubbing toilets, putting a band-aid on skinned knees and attending every basketball game even though your kids team losses every time.. then taking the team out for pizza afterwards and seeing these kids who lose every time still laugh and have fun .. and once in a while you get to suspend your belief that this is all really important stuff and have a hot, screaming orgasm or a head trippy moment in outer space then you come back down to Earth because it's 11:30 and the dog needs walking and sure as shit, he's gonna and you'd better have your pooper scooper with ya. That, my friend, is reality.

Anyone with experience in the real world would know the answer and not bother with the question.

Reality is the perception of the events that effect and interact with your life. How you percive things is how they are. with multiple perceptions comes multiple realties all real and not real at the same time. Any thing you dont know of doesn't bother you, as your knowledge increses so does your perception of reality and the effects it has on you. Only when you can understand what you percive can you affect your reality.
Ok Im sorry that was deep and im going to shut up now as I'm starting to sound like the Orical from the Matrix

.............wake up.....the matrix has you.........free your mind.......

The answer is, its not about reality, as that only pertains to things that can be answered scientifically; it is about perseption. When it comes to persception, anything goes.

There are three images to every human being:

1) The image we want to project to others of who we are.
2) The way we think we are.
3) The way we are actually.

Generally the more healthy we are the more all three of those are very close to each other and the more unhealthy we are the more different the three are to each other.

There is no truth or gross generalization to use to determine the truth about a person. The reality is that to know any individual, no matter in this life or regular life, a person must spend time with them because in the end we all are what we are because any false act can only be portrayed for so long.

The answer is people in this life come from all areas just like everyone else in the world. They range from liars and people living in denial to very honest and live with both feet in reality. They range from very mentally unhealthy to very mentally healthy. It just takes time to figure it out.

The question of "what is realtiy" is a Philosophy question not a Science question. since science can not prove the existanct of reality as it is not possible to recreate reality in a controled enviornment ( think the Truman show) therefor one can not test the reality of realtiy hence a parodox of existance.
