Dude, I got the same thing a few times. What I dont seem to understand is why they seem to like a little "bratty" streak (not to be confused with the brown streaks in your underwear) in a sub.

Bratty is a generic, relative term, but Ms. Tammyjo is right on the money with her definition.  Hell, I'm very obedient to Mistress and live to please Her, but I can also be very mischeivious, playful, and goofy.  It's not a label, it's just who I am.  It's my personality.  If a domme doesn't like my personality or the way I act, that is their problem.  I don't live to please them, only Mistress matters to me.  (See, that was me being a little bratty!  LOL)[:D]

On occasion, I love to stand up and challenge Her authority over me.  It is something I do just to get a reaction out of Her.  She'll play with me a little, but then She'll turn on that tone in Her voice and Her aura just radiates Her dominance over me.  I think She likes it when I act like that because it gives Her another way to show me who owns my ass.  Damn, there is nothing more beautiful than a strong, dominant woman!!![:D]

Typical female bullshit isn't a label....

it's a category.

You go beyond the "category" of brat into a totally different "category" of narrowminded fool.....so yeah I would also disagree with anyone that called you that cc.

laurell3 -> RE: What's your stance on "bratty" subs? (10/31/2007 7:07:14 AM)

"Brat" I have found is often a term used by Dom/mes for anyone that doesn't immediately genuflect their greatness.  If it's in that context, run, don't walk, to your nearest exit as you will find many IamDomhearmeroar types in the personals.

There is no one personality type that is THE submissive to end all time.  It's totally subjective and up to the relationship.  However, if "brat" means attempting to control the situation and make a Dom/me do what you want by inciting...yeah...that's tiresome for many.  However, I personally can't imagine wanting a partner that doesn't have a spark and desire to have fun.

I like humour, like bantering but I don't consider that bratty, if a sub is acting up to try and manipulate a situation it gets tiring so not into that.

I've been labeled a "brat", before, and I detest labels.  I am who I am; either you like me or you don't.

Brat is usually just a label for some women, when a guy won't play doormat for her, even though she insists she wants a "man who can think for himself and be himself and not be a doormat"

Typical female bullshit.

Wow, for a guy that doesn't like labels... you sure pass them out pretty readily.  lol

Could this be filed in 'typical angry male bullshit'?

well, CollegeConundrum who hates labels uses labels here when he writes:

"You're eliminating a dangerous distinction here of "submissive" and "person"

"Person" makesmistakes all the time, some are forgiveable, some aren't. It shouldn't be "the submissive" makes a mistake and they shouldn't be given more of less of a second chance because they're submissive. The guy above me is right; submissives get the short end of the stick. In my opinion, partially because dominants have a very high opinion of themselves and they know there's "plenty of fish in the sea", so to speak.

Me, personally, if I screwed up, I'd own up to it. And if that's not enough to placate her, then fuck her, I'll help her pack.
"

And well, Id have to be in agreement with you, that yup it's [he] angry male bull.

Editted spelling.

I sympathize. I know what you mean about labels. "Doormat" is a label you just used yourself chief.

Labels dont havta be negative bro. Honestly!

Every gawd dang thing in life is categorized.

Labels help us make sense of the world.

We need labels to better understand things.

It's a starting point or a fact, either way, it's needed and it's everywhere. Like "doormat".

NoreenSwan -> RE: What's your stance on "bratty" subs? (10/31/2007 7:45:08 AM)

Well sub brats are fun to me. It's a passive aggreesive dominant act of defiance. In my life, we both are the dominants, really and we do battle. A battle of dominants. And I like that. If he or she were submissive, he she wouldnt try to take over or control the dominant with passive agressive behavior and if I were the only dominant, I would want submission not defiance.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: What's your stance on "bratty" subs? (10/31/2007 8:14:13 AM)

Brats are shown the door in short order.  I love a sense of humor and playfulness---actually it's a requirement---and I am a goof myself, but passive agressiveness?  Snotty nastiness?  No thank you.

I don't see how any of those "labels" are related to this thread.  I guess when you take a few sentences out of every thread, it can mean whatever you want to suit your needs but when you leave it in context, it's true meaning is delivered.

But that's now what you were shooting for here, is it?

Chief.
