darkinshadows -> Loved & Lovable. (8/3/2005 6:08:00 AM)

I am completely Loved.

I am completely Lovable.

I have no problem with both of these statements. I believe that both are representations on who I am and how I feel about myself. More people can say 'I am Loved.' 'I am Lovable.' - but I am speaking of COMPLETE. Few people can look at themselves with honesty and actually believe in these statements. They see flaws and so find themselves unable to believe that Love is complete. Some see flaws as imperfections, when the reality is there is no perfection.

My question to people here is - Who feels these are true or false statements about themselves. And why?

Peace and Love

I am a hypocrite. Those I love, when bemoaning their flaws, are immediately told that I don't just love the perfect things about them. I love the flaws too. It's a complete package deal and they wouldn't be themselves without the imperfections.

On the other hand, I viscerally believe that I am loved in spite of my flaws, however much they might try to convince me otherwise. So...I am loved, there's no doubt about that. There is some doubt in my mind as to how truly lovable I am. They persist though and I've learned not to argue. Arguing insults their care for me.

Waves hands here...
I am loved (by whom are talking though)? [:D]
I am completely lovable.
It is now that I'm older and have more imperfections than ever before, that I've come to recognize that there is no perfection, and so being imperfect is absolutely okay.
I'll never forget the shock of a psychologist friend who asked if I felt insecure on occasion? I said sure, don't you? He replied yes! M

Seriously though - I agree about the imperfections thought. Flaws are so often viewed as a bad thing, when the reality is they are nothing more than the scars and bruises of life - our essence doesn't change. And if we can realise that, and regain our innocence - completeness in love is possible.

Peace and Love

Angel, the feeling is mutual.
The scars and bruises of life are perfectly okay, but oftentimes when we don't know these things are there, we don't examine and decide what to do with them, and we start passing on the impression that we represent only our experience (often negative BTW).
I think sorting through and regaining innocence is a wonderful idea, but I found it really had to be a choice (weather to care, trust, love another)... Easy choice for me since hope for the betterment in the future is the only way to be even close to happy/satisfied in this world. M
