It seems there is always a lot of discussion about topping from the bottom, and I wanted to talk a little bit about bottoming from the top. We have seen a thread on the Sub/slave board about doms who are submissives or slaves to their desires...

I just wonder if people want to talk a bit about bottoming from the top.

?

I don't really have existing thoughts on the subject, I just want to know what's going on.

If there are any existing threads about this, please feel free to post them here.

I don't recall the thread and it's not an often discussed topic so I won't search for it :)

Yes it happens a lot with my relationships (except with the Owner)! However, it's not manipulative, it's completely out in the open and aware and we mostly do it as a way to play and enjoy experiences.

For example, during a scene where I am "topping" the boyfriend by putting him into bondage, he will tell me how to put the ropes together, where he's too tight and then we will go through each toy, testing it out. He's topping me by dictating how the scene goes, but he's bottoming by being the one things are done to and being able to get into subspace.

Now, manipulation wise I'm sure it occurs as well, but I don't find that much fun.

I always kind of stay out of the discussions about topping from the bottom because I do it about 24/7. But I figure, my relationship is still going well and we are enjoying it so it works.

I am a sadist - but could not dominate in that way. So when exploring that side of me, the only way it can be done is if I am bottoming from the top. It is a consensual experience, and I find it quite freeing. I have no power, but I am free to be. But I have control(albeit temporary) - or else it wouldn't be safe.

Weither you are the Sadist or the Masochist, one will usually have more controll over the other durring a session and such. Some sadist want to please a masochist by aggreeing to give them all the pain they can thus becoming a servent. If the people envolved are happy, then who cares if it's Top from Bottom or Bottom from Top? Just enjoy it.

Bottoming from the top is an issue that was covered pretty well in the Sopranos. For a while Ralph Cifaretto was dating Tony's sister Janice; in one scene they show her doing him up the ass with some handheld toy (couldn't see because it was under the covers). Then later she was talking with Tony, may have been after she stopped seeing Ralph, and she mentioned that he "bottoms from the top". Eventually Ralph's head ended up in a bag made to carry a bowling ball.
