The whole 'jumped the shark' label came about because TV doesn't take off shows that have run out of ideas.

Still, when a show "jumps the shark",it`s the death nell.

All too often a long drawn out death...[:D]

Has anyone else seen this?

Who the fuck does this guy think he is?  Who knew Jerry Seinfeld was such an asshole?

He thinks he is a horses asshole!  I watched 10 minutes of the first episode way back when and that was the last time my tube was ever tuned into that moron.

I don't know if Seinfeld is an asshole or not, but I didn't see much wrong on that clip. Just his way of goofing on King, I think.

I agree.  I actually loved the show, it reminded my of my dystfunctional but very fun friends in college.  I seriously think he's kidding in this clip though.

camille65 -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 8:49:09 AM)

I dunno.. I had a tough time trying to see if he was being 'funny'. To me he came across as a jerk and it seemed that LK was uncomfortable & apologetic when he shouldn't have had to be. But then I'm not a Seinfield fan lol, but.. I do like (arghhh I forgot the name of the show) the Larry David sitcom on cable. Dang it I cannot remember the name but it's pretty funny and clever.

That would be the first give-away that it was not real...[:D]

edited:  I actually looked this up and in fact, most of the posts on the net seem to think it is real and Seinfeld is often very defensive about the perception that he may have been cancelled.  I wasn't able to see the whole thing, but a few snippets of other parts of this interview show them joking, but Jerry pretty defensive towards Larry who is kind of bumbling around.  So, I retract my earlier opinion.  I think it might be a combination of age affecting Larry King and Jerry Seinfeld being kind of an ass, but meh who really knows?

ChicagoSwitchMal -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 10:09:30 AM)

Im not even sure why this merits a thread. Or why I'm responding to it. Oh the irony.

Now........ laurell........ once you (rightly) agree with me, you aren't supposed to go backwards like that......

An aside on the Seinfeld show..... there was not a snowball's chance in hell that show was even close to being cancelled. I imagine the NBC execs would have rented out their families if that would have persuaded the cast to continue.

laurell3 -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 10:21:52 AM)

Heh I go agree with you Level (in fact most of the time I do). I like Seinfeld, but I wanted to see the whole show to see what was going on in that paticular clip and couldn't.  However, all the posts I saw of people that did agreed it was real.

MrSpectacular -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 10:22:51 AM)

Jerry was right on.
Larry was trying to provoke and got slapped down.

gracieamelia -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 10:39:55 AM)

Not only does Larry King look ill.....but I heard on a local radio station he doesnt even spend 10minutes preparing for each interview.

laurell3 -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 11:06:13 AM)

Yeah the posts on this interview pointed out that Larry often seems confused and unprepared these days, maybe Jerry walked in assuming that would be an issue, who knows?

JackM1 -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 2:01:10 PM)

it sorta looks like he might have been TRYING to goof on larry, but that it didnt come out like a joke....

MistressPurpleFL -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 2:05:04 PM)

Dear Alumbrado:

His show was not cancelled; he ended it.  He quit while he was NO # 1.

Agreed.  Looked like Seinfeld was just using his normal, dry humor.

Emperor1956 -> RE: What an asshole! (11/3/2007 2:33:42 PM)

FR:  Jerry is a bit of an asshole.  He has major OCD, and agoraphobia.  He's brilliant, prickly and demands complete "artistic control".  In other words, a major talent with major talent behaviors.  He hasn't done much because he doesn't know what he wants to do.  "Bee Movie" is a huge step for him.  He's hyping it all over TV (hence the Larry King appearance, the Daily Show, even the new HP ads).  It even got him out of the house and to the Comedy Fest in Colorado where he's doing standup again for the first time in years.

Interesting that all of you don't like Seinfeld, but after 7 years off the air, you still all rise to his bait like little fishies in the pond.  That is real celebrity.  Like him or not, he's a major force in American television and if he chooses to, he can basically control what you will be able to watch for the next 20 years.

Larry King is just a has-been.  Or a never-was.  Why people watch him, I don't know...except for the thrill of hoping for another heart attack.

And of course "Seinfeld", like this post, was about nothing.

E.

Yep.  Agreed.
I watched the clip didn't see Jerry doing anything other than being his usual silly self.  Jerry doesn't take his fame as serious as some think.   I've seen other comedians do similar bite;  Dennis Miller, Bill Maher come to mind.

I would watch any show featuring Jerry.  The man.  I so get his humor; seeing him on TV lately, kinda, sorta, makes me nostalgic for life in NY.
