its got to be wrong and also an infringement of the data protection act. I mean its not being used for any correct purpose, and you previously were not aware that this information was being collected about you.
Its hard enough to maintain any degree of privacy when you are on the web anyway, these things shouldnt make it harder!

The people operating the chatrooms on collarme are not working with collarme, they're not bound by any confidentiality agreement, they're not vetted - they're just any user who decides to open a chatroom.  So how do they come to be authorized to get private information about other users?

And how does anyone, in turn, manage to get your phone number from your IP?

well they should be governed by collarme..... and they should have to answer to someone.

Well, there is an imposter going around pretending to be the Doms in the rooms.... He talks to the sub girls and tries to get them to send "personl" pix to him.  He jumped into MY pm just tonight.  Now, maybe it's not a big deal to some folks, but it was very disturbing to me.  I knew right away he wasn't real and got in touch with the irc cops who threw him out - using 5 different names and 2 different urls (?).

I don't know why they are doing what they are doing, but I am betting it has to do with this.

It's not illegal, or wrong, or an invasion of privacy or a violation of any act.

If only people knew how many times on average their IP address is collected on shopping sites, information sites they visit etc. they'd think this small fry. Also this thread is really old.

i dont bother with chat rooms...its kinda pointless.  i dont even run icq, msn, aim, yahoo...nothing like those at all.  i prefer forums.
