LadyLegs -> Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 7:56:26 AM)

Maybe I'm too sensitive, but it seems to me that a lot of the threads in the General section start with question about a Master or Dom.  Are these intended to be generic terms for dominants or just in the wrong section?

I get tired of looking in this section and finding discussions that really aren't for everyone.  I just had to get that off my chest.

Prinsexx -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 8:00:48 AM)

Yes the Doms do tend to get stuck in there don't they......

Celeste43 -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 8:03:13 AM)

Most of us just tend to talk from our own perspectives. And since the majority of people on these boards are maledom/female sub, that's how things are usually worded. But ignore it, as you would the third person pronoun he in a situation where the writer didn't know if the reader was male or female.

wisteriaV -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 8:14:17 AM)

There is a mistress section after all. Also there is a polite yet restrained attitude towards women calling themselves doms that I have noticed as well.

hmmmmmm,so how small is your chest?

LadyLegs -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 8:27:48 AM)

It makes me laugh that the mods moved this out of the general BDSM section, but left the ones about "what should I say to my master" in General

and my chest is tiny realboss, just like the rest of me

Just as there is a separate section for Masters, wisteria

jadedserendipity -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 8:32:58 AM)

I am glad you got the chance to vent, even if the mods did move your thread..... I must say though that I have to agree with Celeste..... I do not think it is intentionally done to grate on anyones nerves and I also think that many newbies post there rather than looking into say the "Ask a Master" forum..... I hope you feel better now that you got the chance to vent though.... [:D]

Actually, is that a statistic?  It wasn't my impression that male dom/female sub was the majority.  Or at least, not any obvious majority.

When I saw this, I went to the "Ask a Mistress" forum and to the "Ask a Master" forum, to see if there was a clear difference in volume.  There were 162 pages of topics for "Ask a Mistress," and 126 pages of topics for "Ask a Master."  And then, of course, there's the "Ask a Switch" section!  This may not directly reflect the number of people here, for each orientation.  But it doesn't suggest a clear majority of male dom/female submissives, as suggested.

MadameMarque -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 10:23:29 AM)

LadyLegs, though I do know what you're saying, it may be that people choose to post in the "General BDSM" forum, because their emphasis is not on dialoguing with people of their own orientation, alone, but to put the remarks or questions out there, to everyone.

MrSpectacular -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 1:02:52 PM)

You are too sensistive  and reading too much into the statistics. It is an open community so people can direct their questions at whomever they want.
However I also think your question should have been left in the General section

Maybe she felt like it was random stupidity.

Reply to the OP though, it doesn't irritate me but then it wouldn't, eh? What irritates me is running out of Tylenol PM (and it's going to irritate everyone else too, because I did, which means I will be posting a LOT tonight.)

Lashra -> RE: Hey, not all dominants are male (11/4/2007 2:26:54 PM)

When I read "Dom or Master" unless it is specifically aimed at males by the OP, I include myself in that group as I am a Dominant/Mistress. So yes there are Dominant females out there and I don't think you should take it badly that they do not always say Dom/me or Mistress/Master perhaps they just didn't think about it or were too lazy to type it. lol [;)]

When I first began posting here, I'd post Dom/me or Master/Mistress and sub or slave so as to include the whole gamut...but then I forgot switches...and transgenders....and Tops and bottoms...and, and, and....

Pretty soon I lost the whole point of what I was trying to say.  Since I am a female slave who belongs to a male Master, I write from that perspective.  I don't see a lot of female Dominants saying Dom/me, either.  I wouldn't say it's laziness (I was going to agree with you about that until I thought about it a bit more) - it's more a matter of convenience, and hoping people understand the point of the post, rather than whether or not it included every possible dynamic out there.
