I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quite, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see . . . our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen.

Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder

You know there is a support group for those that have be traumatised by evil birds. Well there probably is because there is one for everything these days.

If someone could present a logical case for illegal immigrants to be here, maybe I'd consider changing my stance. As it is now, however, I find that rewarding illegal acitivity is somewhat perplexing.

It's an oxymoron to reward people for breaking the law, yet, it happens EVERY day.

Forget about just takign down the 'bird feeder' get a few cats to patrol the yard and to catch any stragglers.

I have the solution; all this brainstorming brought it forth- and its a winner all round!

First winners are east German civil engineers - long since out of work since reunification, but with the skills required to build large, pretty much impenetrable barriers. Like along the old border, they'll construct two high barriers, separated by a kilometer wide kill zone between them.

Second winners are building supply companies all along the southern border - barbed wire, concrete, steel fencing - you name it, the east German contractors will need it.

Third winner is of course all you Americans who are tired of immigrants passing over the border - it will no longer be porous, hence problem solved.

And also a winner is the dwindling world population of tigers. These will be airlifted in to the enclosure ("Border National Park") - running from California to the Gulf - between the two east German border fences, which bereft of man's interference will turn back to nature, providing food for the tigers between the perhaps occasional taste of Mexican speciality dishes.

And of course, with all that nature flourishing down there, the birds wont need to bother Renegade77 either. A simple solution that solves everyone's problems - apart from the immigrants' problems of course.

What I'd really like to know though, is what is the cause of Mexicans et al trying to get in to the US - not the pull (that's obvious) but the push - and what can be done to encourage them to stay at home, and why is that not being done? I've picked up a rumour on here that foreigners may not own property in Mexico - which is an obvious disincentive to investment there, but what else is preventing outsourcing to Mexico- worldwide, not just the US?

so you will remove the help for the people that do honestly need the help who are here legally to keep what is, sorry to say it, but pretty but of no help on a basic level? yes, beauty and entertainment is needed...but you have to survive first to get to having your beauty and entertainment needs met....what good does a broadway play do if you are starving and homeless?

Your problem was not the bird feeder. There is nothing wring with feeding the birds native to your own backyard. Your problem was all the non-native wildlife taking over. Find out what species are native to your area, learn to recognize them. Get a pellet rifle. Shoot all non-native species. erhm.......

Cats hunt birds and mice. I LOVE my cat, she is a great birder and mouser. A friend of mien had a few mice in her house, she borrowed my cat for one night, the next morning, no more mouse problem.

We do what we have to do, if you get an over abundance of birds, its time to take action; cats do what they instinctivly do, I let her.

The OP's 'real' issue he was trying to address, take away what is NOT there for those who abuse it and for those who are doing things illegally, and take care of your own first. No free handouts to those who don't deserve it adn that break the law.

Catch hell? Why would he catch hell for speaking the truth?
I agree, it's time to take down the bird feeder and throw the illegal aliens out of the country right on thier asses!
Quit giving them driver licenses, free medical, food, and low income housing that should be going to americans.

A grass roots "Take Down The Bird Feeder" movement is long over due!

MasterRenegade77, if you need any "web building" help to get this grass roots movement started I am offering!
