FR to the op........

If you want to get a girls attention, talk about her-and what she wants.

Rather than all about you-she'll ask that if your interest excites hers.

I should NOT be having to say something so terribly obvious.

Oh Rrafe you would be surprised.  I was out with a potential, and told him he could ask me anything he liked.  He said that he couldn't think of anything!

Oh dear, too worried he would offend?

I tend to just say "Don't worry,I have the squick factor of a wolf eel."

So I can start a conversation about that the hell a 'wolf eel" is.

Question, what are you 2 talking about...?

Creating interest.

You need a hook to get started-not an essay.

Oddly, I DO have the squick factor of a wolf eel...  As one of my friends pointed out, he could have just asked me why the sky is blue, I could have gone on some about the physics of light.

quote:

Hey whats up? I'm Travis and I reside in Boston, MA while attending College at The New England Institute of Art. I'm going to a Bachelors In Photography Degree, I wanna be a portrait/ Erotic photographer when I graduate, Bondage Photography is a long passion of mine.

So your looking for someone with similar interests and someone you can relate to? I can see a bunch of things Id be willing to talk to you about. Anything to do with Bondage and S&M, Photography, Art Galleries, Horseback riding, Travel, Heavy Metal and Rock Music. I'm willing to talk to ya bout about anything. I'm a very open person, I keep it real and I tell it how it is. If your interested in speaking with me some more, feel free to message me back or ask for my AIM or YIM name. Have a good evening and hop to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely,
Travis

Travis,
I would be thrilled to get a message like that. Very often what I get is a message from someone, with nothing in their profile, asking me to "tell me more". I write back, since I have a complete profile and know nothing about you, why don't you tell me something about yourself. The common response is, "I am 6", 190, brown hair and eyes." Wow!!! That tells me a lot about who you are!!!

To the OP: it happens all the time, people write, say that they want to chat, ask for IM's, emails, etc. etc. even phone numbers and yet, strangely, even after expressing interest, they never follow up.

What irks me the most, are those who do that, disappear for a few weeks and then pop up on IM one day and say, Hi babe, so when are we going to meet?

Like we are just sitting here waiting for them to get back to us. Sorry, next!

This happened a few weeks ago!  One boring date, a week of nothing, then then "when do we play?" email.  Yeah, sure.

Now this is not me complaing, but I wanna see if anyone else has had an issue with this. Ive talked to a few people (who will remain nameless) who ive read there profiles, see what there interested in, what they wanna talk about and the whole 9 yards. I send them mail,  I keep it real and semi personal, ask to speak with them more, ill get a response back with them saying something like "Id love to talk more, talk to me on AIM soon" or "sure, I defently love to talk more, send me a message on AIM or E-Mail me". Then the X factor happens, they chicken out or just never respond back.

Now I understand that some women can be real busy, but the same thing has happend bout 7 times. I dont see that im doing anything wrong and im just curious if anyone has an opinion on this cause its a little bit frustrating.

TravWill, you sound like a nice enough person, but most of the issue is the "I'll call you sometime" mentality that many younger people have (my guess - because younger people don't have the testicular fortitude to say "I don't want to talk to you again" and it is easier and friendlier from their POV to just ignore you).

It also could be: for a person in college, your spelling makes it look like you haven't passed eighth grade.

To the OP....well personally for me I hate to IM, in fact I will not IM..and I have told all that I do not IM..now some are fine and say ok...but others I seem to have to go into major reasons as to the why of it..I feel why ask why?..it just is..and I know that many feel the same way about IM as I do..but maybe they, instead of saying I hate to IM..say yeah add me to your yahoo, rather than go through the same song and dance as I do..The best way I feel to get to know someone in the beginning is to e-mail and then just simply progress to phone for a more flowing conversation...plus there is less chance of misunderstanding on phone than in IM..just something for you to consider here..Tempting

This is not just a dom/sub thing. There was a guy that I was emailing with very casually on myspace. He is a very busy guy, but at first he seemed very interested... and then no emails. Nothing. He is a chef at a nearby resort... so I know he puts in a lot of time, but I forgot about him.

He emailed me tonight 3 weeks later... and now I am seeing Sinergy again, so he lost out.

I would drop her another line, tell her that you hope you get that opportunity to get to know her better. I would also express a fond wish that she is doing well in her studies... and as far as keeping it casual, that is the only sort of email I respond to at first. I do not like to be overwhelmed with formality by a stranger... get to know me as a friend and if the spark is there it will progress by shared interests and values... just like you emailed her to start with. Personally I have always dug a man that would read what I was interested in and think about what we might share in common... well done
