Good!

The less plastic bags that are littering everywhere the better

They should ban them altogether, maybe. Surely anyone could buy a few strong re-usable grocery bags? I don't know how sustainable it would be to have paper bags available for those who shop on the way home from work...

Most Plastic grocery bags issued in the US for some time are biodegradable. Exposure to sunlight will cause them to degrade even more quickly. Still I think that the idea of re-useable bags is preferable since it means less oil used in the manufacture of new disposable bags.

We have those, too but don't they take a very long time to be broken down?

they do alot better breaking down in ultraviolet light......not buried in a dump, but you know where they are really tits?  grind them up, say in a paper shredder or something that would rip them into dollar bill sizes like.......use them for mulch in your garden, they help hold moisture and they help keep the soil frangible.

Way better than throwing them and they end up in the ocean.  Heard on NPR about the garbage maelstroms ---- three or 4 times the size of texas and probably as deep, and they said the prevailing garbage was those plastic bags.

About a year sometimes two, depending how they are kept, and that is only the beginning of the degrading.
