ORIGINAL: faithNZ On the other hand, just going off topic slightly, I did have to tell one of our younger members to remove a tongue piercing - bright green - and that didn't go down at all well. In fact I threatened to cut it out with a pair of pliers if he didn't remove it...[:D] which he did eventually, after telling me that he'd make me pay for it to get re-pierced if necessary; despite the fact that he was the one breaching policy and should have changed it to a clear piercing in the first place [:@] Yeah this kind of thing bugs me, because it causes other places to change thier policies. ~sigh~ I mean, I don't take jobs at places that have problems with my earings (I have 6 in each ear) and I make sure to -ask- in my interviews if it will be a problem. If it's a problem, I politely tell them that wihle I'd love to work their, I'd be unable to conform to the dress code and look elswhere. No big deal, though I might grumble some. What bothers me os when a place changes their dress code while I work there, without making allowances for individuals who had been working under another dress code. The place I work recently had some trouble with a couple new hires and what they wore. In retaliation, the dress code clamped down, big time. I don't mind having to wear slack and blouses. Eh, I could get stuff at the thrift store for 1.50. What I objected to what the change to "2 earings per ear" ~sigh~ Fortunatly, my manger was responsive to a letter pointing out the fact that I'd asked spesifically about my earigns, that I'd never gotten any complaints, that they all matched, and that my other options either looked less professional or had health risks. Unfortunatly, the people that made them change the code were asked to quit a week later.
