I have the same sentiments as you. This is being done at my request so I believe it to be my responsibility to be with him when the procedure is being done. I also want to make certain that he will be ok and get home safely afterwards.

This is not something we have heard before so it was interesting to read. The piercer I spoke to asked if my boy is circumsised or not and did not believe there would be a problem because he is not.

Trying to gather information to make a final decision on his piercing has been interesting to say the least. I have heard many positives from websites and talking to the piercer but not much on any negatives associated with it. Like anything we have done to our bodies I believe things can and do go wrong and I want to be well informed before I have this done to him.

Thanks for the web sites, some of those I have not seen yet. The spraying is something that also concerned me and just another negative to consider before I have this done. They tell me that not all men suffer with this problem and not knowing any men who have had it done it is difficult to get an indication if this is true or not.

Watching him go through the metal detectors at the airport may be fun, he blushes so well

i've had a pubic surface piercing for about 2 years now, and it's holding up well- it was done with a barbell designed specifically for surface piercings. i have had trouble with the frenum ladder, though- i think my personal shape is not very conducive to it. Bummer.

i have never had trouble with metal detectors, even when i had a 2 ga PA, 7 frenum piercings (12ga), a 1" long, 14 ga pubic surface piercing, 2 guiche piercings (12ga), and a vertical scrotum piercing (14ga). Since good jewelry is surgical stainless or titanium, apparently a lot of metal detectors ignore trace amounts of it, and the above is not enough to cross that threshold.

Being female I can only relate what my male friends have told me. PA do heal easier. But with PAs you have to think sprinkler when they pee... buy they do look cool.

Having had mine pierced quite a few times (easily over a dozen) I can speak with a bit of experience. Actually, my very first piercing (at one time I had 40+) was in the frenum, just below the head.

I had a somewhat haphazard frenum ladder. At its peak, I think I had seven barbells, and a cute little ring.

I don't think they did anything for my sensitivity. They did make condom use more difficult.

They didn't seem to have any postive impact on vaginal sex. They did have a negative effect on anal sex; for that reason I removed them.

The only complications I had from the piercings were the ones that grew out. I had at least one of them replaced three times; I think only one never grew out. I had no issues with healing or infection. The pain was cosiderably less than piercing my nipples or septum.

Not only anal sex, but oral sex and deep throating with a piercing is a challenge. One can train themselves to learn to relax and not gag as much, having a piece of metal in the back of your throat is a whole other ballgame.

Forty-one piercings, all but two or three in stainless steel, have never set off metal detectors at assorted airports or a couple of nuclear power plants. Stainless steel, at least in the small quantities the jewellry comprises, don't seem to affect the magnetic fields in the detectors.

i have had my PA done and then the gauge stretched down the road.
i personally felt that the sensitivity was heightened just a notch by it for certain sexual positions, not all of them.
i was surprised at how quickly it healed. If i recall properly, i was told to "stay off" (i.e. no sex) it for at least a month but it was healed way before then. i think it has something to do with the urine acting as a "cleansing agent" so infections are harder to come by down there? Not sure.
One key side effect to keep in mind though is that if the male is circumsized getting the PA done makes it a bit akward to pee standing up in the bathroom down the road, due to the second hole being created by the piercing.
So overall no negative experience with my PA piercing whatsoever, on the contrary:)
