I did a search and didn't see this covered, so I'll ask. Female subs only, please.
 
What type of restraints turn you on the most? When my former sub and I were together, I started out using scarves to tie her wrists and ankles. Kindasorta erotic, no marks...but she got out of them too easily. We used soft ropes for the remainder of our relationship. Worked well for restraint, but were a real bitch to untie after playing when we wanted to have sex. Now, I'm thinking of buying some lined leather cuffs for the next fortunate lady.[:D]
 
Any preferences?

Leather cuffs are definitely my favorite. Comfortable, convenient, quick, easy, look cool, durable, and pretty damn hard to get out of.

And if you're going to invest the money anyways, you might not want to shoot for the cheapest ones.

greetings les,

i haven't tried enough different kinds of restraints to really say that i have a preference, but we use leather cuffs and have hooks on the bed and cords that run from the cuffs to the hooks. it works pretty well and is nice because we don't have to get all involved in knots and such if we don't feel like it and it's also easy to remove the hooks (although he did put a more permanent one in the wall recently, which has been fun). as with the hook in the wall, and other things, it is easy to get creative with positions with these as well.

I LOVE bondage and restraints {wipes drool off keyboard}.. doesn't matter what they are made out of, as long as they don't cut off circulation, you know how to use them.  Leather, velcro, suade, natural materials, doesn't really matter.  I love trying to get out of most of that stuff, so, if its gives me an 'opportunity' to try or not, I am all for it.

Currently...my fave is also leather cuffs. mmmm....leather cuffs on a cross, leather cuffs on the bed, leather cuffs behind my back.....

We'd tried ropes and handcuffs, but the real winners were the cuffs we got from collarfactory.com. They are somewhat customizable and there are many available colors of leather/suede/faux fur. I now have a matched collar/wrist/ankle cuff set. Lucky me! [:D]

I made my own cuffs, leather with rabbit fur lining. At the time I made the chain long enough to get in and out of, anymore though i'm thinking about shortining the chains, don't need them that long anymore. =)
 
But I perfer the rope, got some nylon rope from home depot, works wonderfully. We are still new the rope bondage so it's a still a work in progress, so far I'd have to say that i's my favorite. We also have the straps that go under the mattress, it comes with cuffs for ankles and wrists, velcro type, velvety lining and they work really well also. Also have some thigh straps that are that, nice and easy .. as far as I know fairly cheap. Master bought them so I don't know the price on em.

It depends on the scene. 

If it is a submission scene we use the ropes.  The time it takes to get the ropes just right is time I used to mentally get into the right frame of mine. 

If it is a resistance scene, then we go for cuffs.  Depending on how hard I fight, he uses steel handcuffs or the leather ones if he can keep me in place long enough to get them on.

Mmmm it depends what he is doing with me. I am a bondage slut though i love the feel of rope.

When we don't want to use rope and he wants to restrain me quickly and easily leather cuffs that are loackable. I love falling asleep with the smell of leather.

I love i all! Sometimes full shibari other times being in restraints that are hooked to something else. Nylon rope is nice and comfie but I love the feel of the hemp rope and the marks it leaves behind.

Variety is the spice of life. Dont just do one thing. Keep your sub guessing.

In my limited experience, pantyhose, scarves, handcuffs, velcro cuffs... the thing I like the most is a spoken command.  Don't Move.

Point taken. No slight intended.

I was perhaps being too practical. As a male Dom who wants only female subs, I was interested in only their input. In the future, I'll consider that others of different pursuations read the boards as well.

If I had to choose between just those options I'd choose lined leather cuffs, but I really prefer getting held or pinned down over any sort of bondage.

To choose one for fairly serious play.......it would be nylon rope.

I love bondage so anything is absolutely wonderful. My favorite is rope. I love the smell of leather though and the feel of it as it warms and starts to become less rigid. I recently had the pleasure to sleep in metal cuffs(wrist and ankle) and chains. I am not overly fond of the coldness of the chains at first but the clink, clink of the them in the middle of the night is very soothing.

My real favourites the straight jacket but out of your listed choices i'd say leather or steel cuffs.
