Not to sound old-fashioned, but the consumption society we live in encourages and borderline promotes the quick disposal and replacement of items rather than fixing them, and this, mixed with an overall decrease in the sense of personal responsibility and ownership of one's actions, leads to the same "short term" view of relationships between human beings, as if they become disposable themselves. But on a more positive note, i believe in society trends moving in tides, forward and backward. It won't be long before a return to "commitment" and respect of individuals and relationships will make its come back in a world wide tour:) unravel, naive i know.
