        I see a lot less coverage of the anti-war protests these days.  I could be cynical and think that they have simply been discarded by the left side PTB, but maybe they just got boring.

      Now these guys know how to throw a protest that would make the news.

(probably not for the easily squicked)

Covering protests are bad for GE and Westinghouse's wartime profits, therefore CBS and NBC won't do it.

ABC is just a bunch of pussies, but what else do you expect from Disney?

That’s pretty extreme stuff credit where credit is due to the finger choppers and belly stabber. I think I’ll continue with the apathy myself; it's kept me safe thus far.

      The guy taking the full blast of the fire hose gets my vote.  That last picture of him is certainly one I've never seen from the Bundle.

dcnovice -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:11:33 PM)

What's the Bundle, Rich?

I remember seeing a very vivid picture of Civil Rights marchers in the fifties getting blasted with a fire hose.

dcnovice -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:13:31 PM)

This isn't exactly the picture I remember, but it's very similar.

popeye1250 -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:26:17 PM)

I like the one where they rip a pig to pieces.
That'd be cool to do that in front of a mosque!
Then throw slabs of bacon at them!
Those crazy Koreans have to be the best, most inventive protestors in the world!

bipolarber -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:36:18 PM)

Wow. Remember when the whole country was thought to be a "free speech zone?" Boy, those were the days! Back when Presidents actually stood in front of crowds of real people (not hand picked shills) to answer questions.

Of course, so few of us have really been asked to sacrifice for this stinking mistake, that we've gotten complacent. If another GOP hawk gets into office, if the draw down doesn't happen, then they'll have to reinstate the draft. (It's the only way to maintina a presence there otherwise.) I think you'll see a major pickup of protests on college campi if/when that happens. It won't just be the poor kids from trailer parks suffering and dying anymore... then, in the eyes of the American public, it will be "important people."

Sad, and sickening, but probably true.

LadyLynx -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:38:36 PM)

Popeye,  the idea of doing something like that in front of a house of worship offends me.  Just because a few Muslims are choosing make war against us, (for whatever reason.) doesn't mean we should tarnish all Muslims with the same brush.  I am sure you have heard about the camps that we put Japanese immigrants in during WW2.  (I found it interesting that we didn't do the same to the Germans.  I think it because Germans were asthetically similiar to us: white,christian,etc.)

popeye1250 -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 12:53:21 PM)

Ladylynx, but their "religion" offends me!

LadyLynx -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 1:05:00 PM)

well I can't say that I care for some Muslims rationality regarding others who aren't Muslim. But there are very few relgions past or present that has really been tolerant of other religions.

         Just my little pet name for the current incarnation of anti-war protesters.  I didn't think there were enough to qualify as a 'bunch.'

         You have to go back quite a ways to find the sort of passion for his cause and defiance we see in the fire-hose guy in our own society.  I've never seen anything close to it these days.  They seem more likely to cry to their lawyers.

I'd comment on that, but I really don't give a rat's ass about things......

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 5:01:55 PM)

It was very sad and depressing to hear about the babie piggie being ripped apart. Beat up some iwlling participant, get shit and fling it, ok fine,  the dead dogs heads was disgusting, but they were not killed for the protest, so I kind of found it less disturbing. but the poor piggie had nothing to do with your reasons for demonstrating.

Real0ne -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 6:19:06 PM)

go to the designated free speach and protest zone at eureka dunes death valley.

mnottertail -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/11/2007 6:22:04 PM)

I am going to have to throw up my little placard, and say it is spelled 'speech'

UtopianRanger -> RE: Tips for protesters (11/12/2007 12:27:35 AM)

I just walked in on what seemed to be a prelude for an ''Impeach Bush / Anti-war'' protest in Portland yesterday afternoon. Some people told me Cynthia McKinney was supposed be close by....but I didn't see her. It was great....lots of good energy that seems to wanna take-down shotgun more than Bush.
