MsIncontrol -> RE: getting to know the local bdsm community in your area it doesn't seem that easy (11/11/2007 8:35:25 PM)

We were all new once and you will find that people at these types of events are so nice and just like any other group of people you will meet. It is so funny to me as I have been out in the scene for a while and have even started our local BDSM group the number of people who come in the first time and breathe a huge sigh of relief and say "you seem so normal". I can speak for the group I am associated with. We have a yahoo board you can communicate on, we have a newcomers meeting prior to our monthly meeting where you meet in a restaurant and have a bit of an orientation...we walk you into the meeting and introduce you to regulars. We also have bi-monthly round tables for dominants and submissive respectively that meet at restaurants which is a good place for a newbie to start also. I would check out the topic if it is an educational group...make sure the topic isn't "branding" or "extreme needles" for your first visit...LOL Really, we are all just people who share a kink. You will like some...you won't like some...you may find the love of your life...you may not. But the only thing that is for sure...you won't know if you don't go.
