what books, that have a BDSM theme, are your favorites? BDSM doesnt have to be what the book is totally about just if it's included in the story.

Message boards are like that. Sometimes threads get answers and sometimes they go months maybe years or maybe just weeks w/ith no answer.

The Story of "O" and the Kushiel Series.  It's not truly BDSM, but it does give some wonderful ideas in how a submissive can still be strong.

"Macho Sluts" by Pat Califia. Some of the best one-handed reading on the planet!

There's also a gay author by the name of Aaron Travis that I quite like... "Slaves of the Empire" and "Big Shots" are wonderful collections of gay BDSM stories with a really hard edge to them.

And I still have a soft spot for Anne Rice's "Beauty" trilogy. I know a lot of people snicker at the fairly tale aspect, but those books came out about the same time I was just getting into the community in a big way. Their pony scenes were like fantasies that she had somehow ripped right out of my head and put down on paper....

I personally thought the beauty series sucked, was poorly written, and I gave the series away. Anita blake, however I felt rocked, it was kind of interesting to see her go from a hardass loaner to a pack leader.

Gosh, I hope they weren't the first editions of those "sucky" Beauty books... they're worth over $250 to collectors these days....

Of course, if we want to talk about books that truly suck... there's Gor.

Jackquline Carey's Kushiel series is my fave ( she is a very very nice lady, I sent her a letter, and she actualy wrote me back and sent me spiffy stuff!) and Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake and Meridth Gentry books just simply rock. I also have a soft spot for the Beauty series. I *love* ponies so of course I loved them. The Story of O fell flat for me. ( yes it was shocking for the time it came out.. but I did not like it. )

Kushiel's Dart is the first book in the series... and her books really do explain how being submissive does not mean you are weak in any way. I also love the spirituality in the story lines. Her books are a must read for my submissives.

None of the books, that i have read, have come anywhere close to the reality and wonder of the BDSM experiences i have had. i prefer to live it rather than read about it. i would write my own book, except that i prefer to live it than write about it.

My X loaned me number 1 and number 11 to read, and while I was throughly bored with number one, number 11 was good enough to get through easily.
