There are a lot of "parental control" software packages out there, I have waded through a lot of them but I'm hoping someone on CM knows if something like this exists:

I'd like to find software that allows unlimited unfiltered Internet access for a predetermined time period, and then restricts access to only certain sites after that time period has elapsed.

Ideally it would allow Limewire or BitTorrent to run in the background at all times.

Can anyone help me out?

Your private subnet needs a real PROXY SERVER ( e.g. : SQUID ) which can be configured with ACCESS CONTROLS such as you describe.

Any real linux distro should have it already, so you can use an obsolete windows machine, say up to 45MB/s, which should handle you.

You have just identified the real VALUE of open source software, and specifically Linux Distributions.

Through their model of "Your Complete Control", they let you extend the lifespan of equipment which would be considered, in a Windows mono-culture, obsolete.
