Status: offline 		Penetration can either increase a person's dominance, or leave it just the way it is. I don't see where taking pleasure from someone else, whom you control, is an act that would somehow decrease their dominance over their sub.

Now, from the sub's point of view (at least from THIS sub's point of view) it's something that very definitely increases the Domme's power. Being taken with a strap on seems to help refine the roles... "I am the one who takes it in, she is the one who takes me as she pleases." Even if it's relatively vanilla fucking, she's still the one who has control.

It's not the fucking itself that defines us as Domme/sub... but rather it's who gets to say when, with whom, for how long, and what you have to do to earn it.

Status: offline 		I would have to say it doesn't diminish anything.  Considering I am the one in control of who makes the decisions on whether or not someone is allowed to please Me (within limits).  I'm not a monk or a nun.  I'm a Domme who happens to be human and get the same sexual urges as any other female.  I've had both ends of the spectum.  No sexual contact and other situations where the sexual contact was fantastic.  It didn't change anything in the BDSM context.
 
As for the strap-on play, I'd have to say the same thing.  I was still in control if I did it.  I was still in control if I didn't do it.  There wasn't a deciding factor of whether or not it made Me more "Dommely" or not.
 
Sex of any kind isn't the determining factor of a Dominant.  It is, in fact, the Dominant Herself.

Do you consider the act of penetration an act of dominance? If so, are their instances when you find vanilla sex just as satifying to your Dominant desires as kink? Most would say this alone would not satisfy their dominant nature, why?

Because, as others have pointed, dominance is not decided by sex alone. (though sexual gratification is deeply rooted in Dominance and generates sexual arousal, yada yada yada :) )

When you boil it all down, Dominance is simply control.

I believe each Dominant woman wouldd have to answer for their own perceptions on how they feel about sexual intercourse, its positioning during intercourse and or being in the position of applying the 'thrust' during intercourse.
 
For me, I am a Dominant lady.  I am not defined by sexual gender and or sexual intercourse.  Of course at my age, sexual intercourse is the last thing on my mind--I prefer thinking about how to tie a man's genitals into a bow-tie or how many axes, knives and sharps off of their c and b's.

Well, I'm human too . I enjoy vanilla sex. As BDSM isn't about sex only, and sex isn't always kinky for me. Other times I enjoy penetration as an act of domination without other kinks.
