WillMaster -> Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 6:46:24 AM)

I believe (please correct me if I am wrong) that one of the cornerstones of CollarMe is that participants should only be participating and engaging in activities through their own free choice and not through threats or intimidation of any kind. Hence, I feel sure that the moderators on this site would not wish it to be used to facilitate the sexual exploitation of any unwilling party. The reason for this poating is that I have come across a profile on this site which makes clear that in this particular case this is exactly what is happening to an extremely vulnerable person. Is there anything that can be done about this? How do I notify the moderators? Please can somebody advise me on this.

Please note: I am not a busybody - whatever floats your boat is fine by me - and nor am I talking about a Master/slave situation.

mnottertail -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 6:50:22 AM)

as you look at the profile from the search screen, underneath the picture area (the profile text and journal area, actually........as you read left to right there is a report profile button for your use.

The moderators on this side have naught to do with that side, because they got plenty to keep them busy here (not that they might not perve the other side in fits of sexual extasy mind you......)

Thanks Ron

I've felt the same way...there were posts on the forum here that made me think "wow this is illegal and unethical...if it's true" and wonder if I should try to find some way to report it.

I didn't...because I was unsure about whether I should or not, and felt that is the type of thing that I should only do if I were completely sure about it...but I still think about it every so often and wonder if I should have.

The problem with reporting it to CM is that all they can do is take down the profile.  That will just drive the person posting it further underground.  If the authorities are contacted they could find a way to get at least the IP of the person who made the profile...but that always brings in the risk that the site will be subjected to unnecessary legal action and possibly shut down.

I respect you for reporting this though - it actually takes a lot of courage to get involved when you see someone being exploited.  Good  luck!

Stephann -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 9:28:24 AM)

The trouble is that usually when we see exploitative profiles on this site, nine times out of ten, it's someone's fantasy.  Imagine the frustration of law enforcement officials if every time they had to go track down some crazy sounding profile filled with things that sound illegal, they find at the heart of it some bored and horny 17 year old on his laptop at school.

In the several years I've been a part of collarme, I've never seen a profile that was blatently and clearly demonstrating that dangerous and illegal activities were taking place.  If I did, I'd report it to the moderators (who do, in fact, have access to the site's administration) and warn them to contact the FBI.  If I didn't get a response, I'd inform the FBI myself; you can reach them here.

Like Stephann said it could just be someones wild imagination. Plus you never know the age of the person. You could write to them and harrass them but they could just ignor you or open another profile under another name. You will more than likley find that the person is useing a library computer. I know at one time libraries here tried to stop that  but they were sued and they had to leave computer access open to anyone. So if something bothers you here just ignore it.

WillMaster -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 5:42:58 PM)

Thanks xoxi, Stephan and Dnomyar for your replies and your advice. I have already followed Ron's advice (given earlier) and clicked the "Report Profile" button for this particular profile but I don't think this will do much good, since, it appears, a "predetermined number of people" have to do this against a profile before it is automatically withdrawn. Apparently, there is nobody who monitors profiles manually, so to speak. I am tempted to reveal the handle of this particular profile in the hope that others will view it and take similar action to myself by clicking the "Report Profile" button and then, hopefully, the number of people doing this will be enough to get the profile removed. I would welcome any views on whether or not this is a wise course of action.

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 7:26:34 PM)

To reveal the profile here in the forum would be against TOS...but on the other side in an e , I am not sure....Tempting

xoxi -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 7:28:04 PM)

If you send me a cmail on the other side I will view the profile and see if I wish to report it.

I would advise against posting it on the forums though.

Mellissande -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 7:44:33 PM)

You're probably better off to bring it straight to the attention of the Moderators, Actually talk to them about the profile and see what they think about the actions they should take. Always better safe than sorry you know?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 7:55:48 PM)

Informed consent means allowing people to choose to be in relationships even if it destroys them.  If you don't want people pointing at your relationship and impressing their notions of what's healthy and right, then you really shouldn't do it to others.

frazzle40 -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 8:01:51 PM)

Having read the profile mentioned, i also reported it.

The guy has supposedly bullied his blind wife into, basically being raped by total strangers, just so he can watch.  His word '' i threatened to leave her to cope on her own until she begged me to stay, i then had leverage and she'll now do as i want.''

laurell3 -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/14/2007 11:23:23 PM)

I think it's safe to assume that law enforcement actually does do some monitoring of these sites already.  There are entire sections of federal law enforcement that sit on the net looking for predators.  Whether they've seen that paticular profile, who knows?

The problem in thinking something is explotation or illegal is that many in mainstream society would say wiitwd is the explotation and no one that consents to such things could be sane or competent and clearly, in most places it is illegal.

Unless it involves an um or something that lacks any capacity to consent, I sure wouldn't go there personally.

Dnomyar -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:05:51 AM)

I would take any profile with a huge grain of salt. What about the people who dont have profiles. There are a few of them here. Do we report them for being perverts because they have something to hide?

mnottertail -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:13:40 AM)

Ummmmmmmmmm..............I am lost.............

Stephann -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:20:07 AM)

Hi frazzle,

See this is exactly the sort of thing we're talking about.  The guy is obviously an asshole, but I know lots of people would say the same about how I treat my slave.  Honestly, there'd be nothing there to involve the FBI, but I do think the ad violates the CM.com community standards.  The problem with reporting profiles, is nothing prevents the guy from just making another one.  This comes with being a free site, take it or leave it.

For better or worse, the woman in question has the choice to escape.  He may have bullied her, but that's a two way street.  It isn't societies obligation to interfere with bad marriages between two consenting, competant adults.

Having said that, posting information against other people either here in the forums, or in our own profiles/journals is against the community rules.

Take care,

Stephan

WillMaster -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:08:06 PM)

Thanks for the advice, Tempting.

TOS = Terms of Service?

WillMaster -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:12:43 PM)

Thanks Melissande - but how do you get to talk to the Moderators? I'm advised that the Moderators on this side don't deal with the stuff on the other side.

WillMaster -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:16:55 PM)

Generally speaking, Lucky, I'd agree with you 100% - in this case I'm not sure. Please have a look at the posting below yours.

WillMaster -> RE: Sexual exploitation (11/15/2007 8:25:40 PM)

Sorry mate, I didn't realize you had to be a member of the Christian coalition to be against sexual exploitation of other people, or any other kind of exploitation of other people for that matter.
