We don't have a Jiffy Lube here, but I had an experience like this at a Midas once. I went in to get my break pads changed on an old Chevy I used to have, and they tried to convince me to buy all this extra crap for my breaks. They tried that old ploy of they wouldn't guarantee the pads if I didn't get the extra work done. I told them to take my car off the rack, and I'd take my business elsewhere. They tried to charge me for the time the car was there, so I had to call the police to get them to give me my car. The police told them they weren't allowed to keep my car, and they had to sue me if they wanted any money. I immediately called the corporate office and told them what happened. I got an apology and they offered to put my breaks on for free. But, I told them that they had lost a customer over that whole entire mess. I won't go to those quickie places anymore as a result. I know a lot of people hate Wal-Mart, but they actually do a pretty good job with oil changes and basic servicing. Sears is also pretty good about it too. The only downside to either is that you usually have to wait an hour or so to get it done.
