I am asking this question of the Doms/Dommes/Masters/Tops. I am going to post a slightly modified version in the "ask a submissive thread"

Doms-What do you prefer in a submissive? Do you prefer one about equal to you in income, education, etc? Or do you seek to "date up" and seek someone higher on the totem pole ? Or, do you seek someone less educated or lower income level?

Why? What experiences have led you to your current preference? Was it the way you were raised or was it personal experience? Have you ever dated outside your class and regretted it?

Income is not an issue for the girls I seek. Neither is formal education. Intelligence and willingness to learn and to accomplish things are. With those raw materials, good things can be accomplished irrespective of the current situation.

I only worry about the person, not what class etc they are.
I've both dated above and below me in terms of income, class, intelligence and it made no difference whatever.

The obvious question is this: Apart from his/her education and financial situation, is he/she otherwise the right person and would this be a good match based on the relationship dynamics?

I prefer intelligence, obedience, humor, wit, kindness, beauty, passion etc...
The list goes on and on.
While I care more about intelligence than education I do tend to end up with educated women, its not that I seek this, its what happens.I seem to attract a certain type, education tends to be one of those things.
Income has zero consideration, but she better be capable of being self supporting.
Its about respect, and I have trouble respecting people who are takers and nimrods.
In the end it comes down to chemistry, always.
And the have you dated out of your class question, for whatever reason, I find it vaguely insulting. I am not saying that it is intended that way, it is how I react to it.The idea that I would judge another by birth or class smacks of eltism which is one thing I cannot abide.
I am an equally opportunity hater, I will dislike someone for who they are, regardless of race, class, color, sex or creed if they are a jerk. The concept of judging someone by their social status is some thing I find reprehensible and says nothing at all about the party I am observing but tells the world everything about me

In an ideal world, I'd prefer "about equal" on most social and outside influences that go toward compatability. Makes for less unwanted distractions and expectations etc.

I've noticed that I'm more drawn to people who are 'blue collar'. I DO like white collar, intelligent people, but when I get into relationships, it's usually with someone who has less education, equal intelligence and at least one great trade skill. There are exceptions though. Right now, I have a part-time antiquarian book dealer and auction person, a mechanic, a cabinet maker, a textile manager and a clinical psychologist as different slaves in my life. The book dealer/auction assistant is my girl anne. Of the rest, the cabinet maker is probably the most likely to petition for a collar next.

Social status, income, and formal education aren't particularly important to me. Other characteristics are more of a factor. For example, someone of a similar energy level, similar or greater creativity, similar or greater intelligence are more important considerations for me personally. The submissive doesn't have to be equal to me in anything, they can be somewhat behind me in important areas, at a similar level, or even ahead of me; in less important areas there is more leeway regarding what "level" they are at.
