Let me get this straight. The question is: I know everything about myself, so where do I go from here? And, who do I go to for advice when I need it?

I hope that's it, correct me if I'm wrong.

Close enough. :)

quote:

In ancient Kmt (Egypt) there was a thing called Per Anhk, or "the house of life." Of the things Per Anhk taught it said that "self knowledge is the basis of all knowledge." But it doesn't stop there. The purpose of the House of Life was not simply to impart of priests and scholars wisdom of their own history/culture/identity/values...but to extend to them the ability to teach others.

This I do already. I'm a teacher by trade, training and nature.

quote:

Knowledge is power, and if what you say is true then you have a lot of ability in your hands to transform life around you. Be a mentor.

I mentor frequently and have for several years.

quote:

 Run for a political position.

Not my thing. I do, however, work behind the scenes for the candidates of my choice. I do better effecting the world a piece at a time -  one person at a time. I feel much more comfortable doing it that way than via a political machine.

quote:

Volunteer.

I volunteer frequently for my causes.

quote:

Start a post called "BitaTruble Knows Best!"

Actually, my advice column was called TrubledTimes for Dom-sub Lifestyle ezine. When the ezine went defunct, my column went away. I'm back to mentoring one on one again.

quote:

Ultimately our goal as enlightened people should not be the self-satisfaction of simply being intelligent. If we have not contributed to our own community then what's the point?

I completely agree. That's why I founded UPEX and started a mentorship program. It's why I continue to write and mentor and participate in groups, discussions and forums such as this one.

quote:

If we have not extended onto others our ability and knowledge, then again, what's the point?

I agree again and some of those whom I've mentored now mentor in their turn.

quote:

I might tell you to read The Heart of Whiteness by Rober Jensen or something like that (and you should).

I'll check it out. I have an extensive reading list already, but am always looking for new and different.

quote:

But it's really up you to what you do.

Indeed, but thanks for trying.

quote:

Challenge yourself to be an important figure in either society, or the life of another.

Already there as well. :)

quote:

You may find you have more to learn about yourself than you thought.

I was hoping for something from a young perspective that perhaps I had missed, but I do appreciate the effort you made on my behalf.

quote:

Following your instincts is usually best.

I'm a poker player, so believe completely in trusting my gut.

quote:

However, when I really need advice? I ask my brother, then sister, then parents. Usually in that order. But that's just me that might not work for you.

That wouldn't work for me, but thank you again for the thoughtful response. You came up with several ideas that would probably work for someone other than myself, so the advice is sound. Unfortunately, I'd already come up with all those on my own, but then, I'm a fairly wise old bird myself.  You might run into this dilema yourself one day, so keep thinking on it.
quote:

It's always best to ask me though since I know everything.

I love confidence. :)

No. Do not cut down trees for the sake of swamp cabbage. Make another, better dish.
If it's illegal then they are protected, meaning they are endangered.
Lets not act like poachers now!

To answer dcnovices question, swamp cabbage is made from the heart of the cabbage palm. If you cut down the tree when its about 5 to 6 foot tall, and peel back all the layers until you get to the core right at the top under where the fronds come out of the top, you get this really tender section from the inside about 2 foot long. Keep cutting away the layers until the peices you break off are no longer bitter. Thats swamp cabbage. It can be eaten raw and is quite good, but its even better boiled down and cooked just like regular cabbage. YUM.

Actually, the cabbage palm is NOT endangered. There are millions of the things. It is however the Florida State tree.

I can only try to answer your question, I don't know you personally so you'll have to bear (bare?) with me if my advice is just general.
I'd rather give good general advice than be specific and totally off beat.

Even so. Don't you think enough natural resources have been destroyed in Florida as is?

Ghita, is swamp cabbage the same as heart of palm? And they aren't true trees, they're closer to banana plants, fast growing, easily replaced.

Okay Jinger, why is it that of the four guys hunting my land, not one has bagged a deer? Permits this year are two does and one buck over four points per season. Seasons include bow, rifle and black powder. That means they should each be getting nine deer, okay six since nobody's seen a buck over four points. Yet not one of the eleven deer who live alongside my driveway has been shot.

There's no sport in shooting a deer that's just standing around a driveway.
Or...I guess...I'm not into hunting.

Maybe they're morons?

If the pain is manageable then yeah it's probably best to do that, financially speaking.
Or you could move to Canada and have it all done for free.

If the pain is too much however, see someone. Until then try your best to keep your mouth very clean, and take painkillers when necessary.

Hello Jinger how is life?

Why is it called a side walk when you don’t appear to be walking sideways on it and it isn’t at the edge of a walk?
Why did NASA stop the teacher assassination project?
I understand PrtScn but what the fuck is SysRq?
I have more questions but these are my most pressing ones currently.
Enjoy your day.

Tonight, right now, I am reeeeaaaally exhausted. I will be going to bed very soon.

1. A cross walk is called a cross walk, because the walk crosses the street. A side walk is called a side walk, because you walk on the sides of the street. Silly.

2 & 3. No idea what you're talking about.

Sleepy.
Sleepy.

ASK ME MORE QUESTIONS OR I'LL BITE YOU.

I can't help you with the NASA teacher assassination project, it’s a mystery to me.

(edit: can = can't)

Yah okies. I have a genuine question but I am still formulating it all in my head. Debating if I should post it, write it etc. Many here make noise when someone asks for personal advice, which is part of my hesitation. The other part of my hesitation is that I am trying to get it all sorted out/written out in a non emotional way. It is advice needed on friendship & boundaries. On whether I need to stop trying or cut them loose. I've never written anyone off before, how do I know if it is time?

since Jinger knows best, i thought i should consult your expert advice before making any final decisions.

should i go with the garden scene at this fine Italian restuarant or the Irish castle (it's actually a church) for both wedding/reception?

should my colors be white/wine or champange(ivory)/wine?

thanks in advance

Wait. You mean, to break up or not to break up? Is that the question? Slightly confused.

Humm.
There are two ways to go about this.

You might find out how much Irish and Italian are in the guest population. Or, you could say fuck it I'm the one getting married.
Have you looked at both places?

Given that you've looked over both places, I personally would choose the castle. Simply because I'm a hopeless romantic and the idea of it sounds deliciously festive. Especially if you're getting married in the wintermonths/around christmas. But even in spring it'd look good. A caslte is usually nice looking. If everything went to hell you'd at least be in a castle, right?

But that is just me. The Irish aren't known for their cuisine like the italians are. But then again you're less likely to stain a dress if you don't want to eat what's on your plate. Har har.

Go with ivory, it's a slightly warmer color. You don't want things to look too cold or sterile.
But again, that's just me.

I'm taking this question as a personal invite. I'll bring oranges.
