deliciousmorsel -> How do you pack insertables? (11/16/2007 1:24:55 AM)

I'm a sub- with my own toybag. It's just too easy to catch things, even from cuffs, so I have a nice collection of my personal toys. Besides, a new Dom friend appreciates when they ask what you like and you can hand them a case of the really fun kink LOL >;-D.
Anyway, "insertable" items need to arrive somewhere clean and organized but not right on top of the box. Ziplock bags are driving me crazy. Very wasteful, ugly, good for between use and cleaning, but unappealing during playtime. One's toys should present attractively. Besides, I wonder if moisture trapped in those bags isn't going to damage my investment. Corrosion in medical toys isn't healthy.
Suggestions?
Thank you!

Heh.. my first instinct is to use a lot of lube and then just pack them tightly into whomever I'm playing with...

But I realize that you're looking for a much different kind of answer.

You could either buy or make something like a "surgical roll" that holds your loose toys.  Basically you're looking at a long piece of fabric or leather with pockets sewn in to fit...well..whatever you want it to hold.  When not in use, the whole thing rolls up and it secured by ties on the outside of the roll.  This may not work for large insertable toys, though...  Great for medical stuff, though... it rolls up quickly and neat.. toys are secured firmly.  Might work for your needs...

Good luck,

~Thorns

If you can afford the investment you might purchase a kitchen food "seal a meal" type  appliance.  you can use it for food also.

I have a beautiful 'roll up' style jewelry case, the type with small knots for rings and pouches etc.  It all gets rolled up and tied together, when unrolled it is all displayed and organised for him. If I have things that need extra cushion or need to be separate then I wrap them in fabric first. Luggage departments have some very clever holders for things. Try places like (I'm going to mangle the spelling sorry lol) Hammacher Schlemmer or even art supply stores (think paint brush carriers).

How about a knitting needle roll-up for medical items, smaller toys, etc?  If you know someone that sews, they can copy one with larger compartments for dils, plugs, vibs, etc.  Another idea is a large wrench roll-up like mechanics use...although not particularly esthetically pleasing, it would serve the purpose.  If all the toys are always clean going into the roll, there should be very little contamination.

MsIncontrol -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/16/2007 2:27:42 PM)

I have a clear plastic case (from Home Depot a.k.a Dom Depot) that is used to organize tools.  You can remove the little section dividers and keep toys in their own space.  I used this for a variety of loose types of things like insertables, nipple clips etc. This is easily placed in my toy bag along with the larger stuff when we go to parties and events.

I also clean all insertables in the dishwasher and allow them to dry completely before returning them to the case.  I keep ziplock baggies in my toy bag to place dirty/unsanitized items in this to carry home so I don't contaminate all the other items.

MsIncontrol -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/16/2007 2:35:41 PM)

I am a little OCD and have a two page written instructions on how to keep and care for our toys...which is a large investment.  I think it is very nice for a Dom/me to know you care and treasure your toys.  Although, I know you asked specifically for insertables but I thought I would share a few other toy bag tips.

- I use stockings to hold my floggers and whips to prevent them from tangling up.
- Always have a small flashlight handy for dark dungeon spaces.
- All rope is looped with the chain stitch and has different color ends for the finishing for the different lengths.
- My sub makes an inventory list before we leave for a party so we make sure not to leave any toys behind...which we have done in the past...especially in wonderful sub/Domme space.
- All safety equiptment is kept in a specific outside compartment where it is easily accessible.
- Blanket, bottled water and candy are always on hand for aftercare.

There are a bunch more...but those are what are coming to mind quickly.

Mr Thorns  that first line was also what i was thinking as well ..
MsInControl , i think i love you !Aftercare candy ooh i am so adding that ..You sub is indeed very fortunate .
My big thing is keep stuff seperate  not just tossed in one big ole bag .you would not store chicken on top of veggies  lol .

Be careful when packing up jelly/silicone toys as they will melt into each other (which COULD prove interesting).
When i sold sex toys, i slipped all of my "sticky surface" toys into individual satin bags, dusting them with cornstarch beforehand.

The Foodsaver/Seal-a-Meal rigs work well, too.

Thank you all, I really like the roll up pouch idea; silicone dildos and medical things were the hard things to pack and while I personally like them packed into me as well one does need to get them toted around sometimes. The corn starch on the silicone is brilliance!
I know my toys, if they leave the house, aren't getting cleaned until the next day. Reality. But even in ziplocks in the pouch I can find them easily. When I competed in a lot of sports well organized wet muddy equipment was a problem but there were bags made for it. Never seen stuff for this...
Besides, have y'all noticed how hard it is to find dildos? It is in my part of the world. I finally had to go on Ebay to find what I like. There's much better vibrators than ever, but no old skool big rubber penises. Go figure... But I'm taking good care of these.

Taboo4Two -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/21/2007 6:41:27 AM)

If you want to keep them clean and sanitized you really do have to isolate them from other items in your bag. The zip-locks are a great idea and when combined with a tool or jewelry roll would be good solution. You might also consider putting them in plastic wrap. Just roll them up and you're good to go.

These are all great ideas, thanks for the tips.  Even Martha St___ would be impressed with all the orgization ideas.

MRandme -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/21/2007 10:46:42 AM)

i have cloth squares that i wrap mine up in, each with it's own pattern or color, so i can identify them easily. What bothers me though is the lint/fibers from the cloth. Even though i wash them carefully with toy cleaner before i put them away, i generally have to do so again when i take them out because they are slightly fuzzy. The cloths are 100% cotton, so i didn't think it would be a problem. i am considering a cheap plastic or vinyl table cloth (from the dollar store) and cutting it into the appropriate sized squares.

The problem with ziplocks and plastic wrap is that they are airtight and will trap moisture in with the toys. They smell musty and moldy (to me anyway -- could it be in my head?). Also, if they are not perfectly dry, they are hard to slide in. Like trying to put on plastic or latex gloves with wet hands... pain in the butt. By using the squares of tablecloth, there won't be any fuzz, but the squares won't be airtight either. You could also use a Sharpie to write on it what it is supposed to wrap. That way, if you have a square left over, you know which toy is missing (inventory control).

A zip lock bag (one of the small snack-sized ones) would be handy for putting the batteries in.  The batteries shouldn't be left in the devices when they are stored, but you also don't want to mix them in with the ones for other toys. Mixing batteries of different ages/usages can shorten the life of the device they are used in. Remove the batteries from the toy, zip them in the bag, then tuck the bag in with the toy. Or write the toy name on the ziplock and put all the ziplocks in the same place.

As for the toybox itself, it doesn't have to travel so i use an old wooden box designed for holding office records. Looks very nice, blends in and does slide nicely under the bed.

Lordandmaster -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/21/2007 10:52:11 AM)

You can always try transporting them inside you.  What dom would say no to a nice relaxed sphincter?

deliciousmorsel -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/26/2007 9:03:30 AM)

Lint from fabric was a concern when I asked the question- icky! But ziplocks do trap moisture... That's why I'm looking for a better idea. Unfortunately, Oh Lordandmaster of Elephants having a good time, nobody can fit specula and a wide assortment of vibes and dildos at once- or the girl that can gets a tiara and sash for being The Greatest Whore Of Babylon Ever LOL. And the walk through the airport metal detector would be a bit aggravating. >;-D

I got out the sewing machine and ran up some roll up cases out of loudly colored Chinese jaquard silk with a plastic (Visquine) lining and may try oilcloth, which is just a different sort of plastic. We'll see. The important thing is to put the toys in a dishdrainer after cleaning to let them dry really well but then theres ones straight friends dropping by and such. The whips in the rack are fascinating but the other stuff would be too much to show off to my mother...

My medical toys all have cases except speculae- hard things to pack, and don't want rust! Dildo's seem to all be silicone and lint, well, I commented on that. At home they all go laid out in a polyester satin lined drawer. But traveling is just a mess. Ziplocks after I can live with, I just don't think them very sexy to unpack at the time they're needed! It's like nice lingerie, or the right shoes. Presentation means a lot and shouldn't a sub be a great aesthetic experience as well as kinky as hell? This includes exploring her toy box.

They're supposed to be made out of stainless steel, which doesn't rust.

bittermoonlight -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/27/2007 9:09:04 AM)

Firstly - ooh ideas ideas! This thread has been inspiring. I think that one of the roll-out-things-with-pockets combined with non-linty things to wrap them (vinyl or satin seems like it'd work well) that you can wash separately if you choose might be something to try. That way, ziplock baggies aren't necessary.

Thanks for the ideas, at any rate!

deliciousmorsel -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/27/2007 1:36:31 PM)

You're right about stainless beeble- I was thinking about the raft of sporting goods I wrestle with...
Actually, polyester charmeuse doubled might be good, because it would separate things, let air through, and go in the washing machine- plastic linings won't nessasarily do well. I wonder how it would do bringing used stuff home? If it washes and beathes...
There is always a best solution, and often a perfect one. After too many years of unpacking smelly cycling wear on Wensday after two days of tired, I've learned that a good system takes up a lot of slack. And I'll blithely go off somewhere with an empty ziplock box too. I've done it before. Novice sub does not mean novice gear hauling, and the easier you make it the better.

Teles -> RE: How do you pack insertables? (11/28/2007 12:10:34 PM)

That's kind of a cool idea.  I might try that myself.  :)
