serisa -> a smooth shave (11/16/2007 6:23:12 AM)

hi
there seems a fair bit general advice on techniques to be hair free down below but i seem to find no matter which one i use my pussy feels like a mans chin ! !, really bristly even straight after doing it.  i used hair removing creams and bought expensive razors and shaving gels to try and get close finish but always end up with this rough feeling to it.
is it supposed to be like this or is there anyway to get silky smooth like for example how your legs feel after a really good shave ?
i dont know if i am expecting too much to get it this good in that area and with that type of hair.

Thank you very much !

Try waxing.

When you get a really smooth shave on your legs, you're usually going against the direction of hair growth.  You can do that in your sensitive region, but that'll probably just promote ingrown hairs.  If you really want it silky smooth, I think you may have to bite the bullet and wax 'er up.

Can't say I've ever done the wax myself, but I'm a little wary of just anyone seeing my business... and I certainly couldn't pull the strips off myself.  For now, I think I'll settle for the closest shave I can get!

Wax or the Seiko Cleancut razor

Waxing has its own set of problems.  If you do it, use "Skin Tend" (or is it Tend Skin?)--it is in a blue bottle and is terrific.

But you must know, you'll have 3 days with lots of bumps, than maybe 5 days where it is lovely, and then regrowth.  It will be smooth, but it isn't like you can just have it smooth all the time if you do it every month.

And you probably know this, but don't try to do it yourself.  I do my own legs, but even if Sally Hansen says otherwise, there's really no way to do it yourself.  When I go to a salon, they often have me pull the skin tight because even 2 hands isn't always enough!

DAMN....you must be a porcupine!

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: a smooth shave (11/16/2007 2:52:49 PM)

I'm lucky if I get a full day of really smooth skin after shaving- and that's once slowly against the grain and then once fluidly with the grain.

If you honestly want the smoothness that lasts- waxing is the way to go.  There's also electrolysis, but that's a lot more investment and risk, and the more you wax, the more damaged the hair follicles get and it grows back slower and lighter anyway.

Waxing works best. Though both myself and my Dom enjoy me having a "stubble" or "peach fuzz". But that's just me.

There's a new "pain free" technology that I would have to say really is relatively pain free.  In you are in NYC drop me a line on the other side--I know a terrific laser person that is good and pretty inexpensive (comparatively).

Tend Skin.  Warning - may cause severe problems if you use this and exfoliate.

I will chime in with the waxing votes, although I went a cheaper route and bought a Men's Remington close shave razor (works a lot better than my former Norelco).  Easy, painless, close shave, no cost after initial purchase - voila.

azropedntied -> RE: a smooth shave (11/16/2007 7:41:49 PM)

WOW i forgot  fireplay , that also removes the hair , though does not last as long .
I have never liked those electric shaver's maybe i am not getting the right one .then again the closest shave i get beside s the mach3 would be straight razor .Now finding one that is great with a straight razor is one thing trusting them in the niether whoHA regions is another .

kyraofMists -> RE: a smooth shave (11/16/2007 8:20:59 PM)

I agree with the waxing.  However, you might want to find a place that does not use the wax with muslin strips.  It is a hard wax, also called stripless wax.  It was desinged in Europe to be used on the bikini area and they now use it everywhere.

I feel little to no pain with it, even when done in some very tender areas.  When I tried waxing with the muslin strips I would get bruises from the wax pulling on my skin.  The stripless wax does not pull the skin and only takes out the hair.

hisdevotedtoy -> RE: a smooth shave (11/16/2007 10:41:25 PM)

                       I use a single blade razor, and it works really well.  I do it often and the area is quite use to it now.  The only way to get that super smooth feeling is to go against the grain like a previous poster suggested, and when you do that you do risk the ingrown hair effect.  Waxing might be best, but i don't do it...

vegassub777 -> RE: a smooth shave (11/17/2007 1:01:04 AM)

Master has been very lax in his requirements regarding my hair down there.  Personally, I hate shaving it, and going against the direction of the growth is frustrating since it seems to grow every which way.  Plus I'm super sensitive, so having soap (even "intimate" soap), shaving cremes, depilatory cremes and other substances down there for more than a minute tends to start burning, so I try to avoid shaving it at all.  I'll likely go with waxing as soon as I can get up the guts to do it.
