Dita is the best beauty money can buy!

She does have real natural beauty, but a lot of it is fake too...

Dita's cute, but she's not hardcore enough for me.
She bores me with her pouty, foo-foo'ness.

Isn't Dita just adorable? If you haven't checked her out on Frederick's web site, take a look.

My husband and I saw one of her Burlesque shows in Huntington Beach about 5 years ago and she is just as pretty in person as she is in print...such amazing skin! I just love how she has brought that iconic and just absolutely yummy pinup girl look back into the public's awareness. I'm waiting for 40's and 50's fashion to become mainstream again, wouldn't that be lovely? OK, OK, I know we'd never get the general public to fall for it, but one could hope! I wish I could just buy a retro dress off the rack rather than sew them myself!

Have you been to pinupgirlclothing.com? They have a vast selection.

I have visited that site, but I don't want to be caught wearing the same dress as another girl at the Hootenanny! Plus, I have to make my own dresses because I can't get-off-the racks to fit my rack. I'm short torsoed, large busted, and have a small waist in comparison to my bust. By the time I alter a dress to fit, I could have sewed one in the same amount of time.

I've become against nostalgic lately and Dita is one of those who I find irritating and not in a good way. I wish she could do something original rather than mimic women from the past. Nothing against her looks or enthusiasm for vintage, but I definitely need something that has some anchor in the present. I am not looking forward to the day when the leisure suit becomes the new vintage look.

I've seen her ads but never her shows and I'm sorry to say that while she is beautiful, there is nothing that special about her to me. I don't see the fascination with her looks. Perhaps someone can explain it to me because I see her as simply anohter beautiful woman but nothing to get excited over.

Good question! I'll be happy to explain. I love her so much because she is fascinated with the ART of the female form. She has studied the poses and postures of the pinup girls of the past. She has found that stylized beauty of the art of being a pinup that has been slowly lost in the porn industry and she brings beauty and class back to fetish and erotica. She has that certain "it" factor that Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe had, and Pamela Anderson doesn't. Her burlesque show is fabulous...definitely don't miss on an opportunity to see her live, that is if she's even doing it anymore, I'm not sure if she is.

OK I'll take your word for it.  I guess the problem I have is that she seems like a standard, run of the mill beauty, a dime for 2 dozen type thing.  There is nothing truly unique about her look, and the standard of beauty that she represents is bland and tasteless in my eyes.  There is nothing truly erotic or exotic about her.  But this is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to one.

I just think she's cute. I'd certainly rather see her splattered all over the tabloids than Pamela Anderson or some boring girl like Britney Spears with er "secret room that had pink handcuffs", ya know?

I LOVE Dita in a Corset. I'm training my waist right now and hope to get a figure like hers in a Corset some day. I think my biggest infatuation with her is that she has such porcelain skin. I am very fair skinned to point where you can see my veins. Even though I am an avid gardener and spend hours outside, in the Summer, my tan brings my skin only to a "normal" complexion. I like that she's fair, and that it is seen as a thing of beauty.

sexyred1 -> RE: Dita von Teese New Frederick's Pinup Girl (12/7/2007 10:50:48 AM)

I agree with gorgeous. I love fair skin (as a redhead, of course I am fair as well...not prejudiced at all though :)). Tan is pretty, but tan ages you and I like getting guessed 10 years younger.

I just like that raven haired, creamy skinned look. Dita is a bit thin, but so cute and the best thing, is like g says, she hearkens back to another time when pin ups were all the rage. Porn is great but so were the playful sexuality of the pin ups. I happen to like the fuller figure voluptuous ones, but Dita has that air about her.

And really, aren't we just so bored with the Paris/Britney/Nicole/insertstarletoftheday here?

I don't see the big splash about Dita. I love the real pin up style - and you just can't buy it new in stores.
I love the real Bettie Page. She's tall, rather slim, less made up - and not at all contrived :-)
