Older people can can appear wiser because we take longer to react to things... Maintaining a thoughtful expression will add to that impression.

Try looking up the definitions of wisdom, knowledge, beliefs, and experience.  This may help you.

Darkhaven80 -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (11/28/2007 7:51:04 PM)

Not speaking from lifestyle perspective here, but I mistakenly thought older men meant more settled and sure of what they want. Sadly I found it means more likely to be going through a mid-life crisis. While that sounds amusing, it's true with the two experiences I've had. It's doesn't deter me from older though, but it's something that opened my eyes

Age is only a number.
Wise is as wise does [;)]

AMaster -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/1/2007 3:55:31 PM)

[:D]

Older does not always mean wiser, But one can try to grow and learn.

AMaster -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/1/2007 3:56:58 PM)

Besides, a Master is only as old as the subbies he feels!

erebus -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/20/2007 7:24:24 PM)

The potential certainly is there, but not everyone learns perspective as they grow older (I have, but that's a different matter, perhaps).  Time is necessary to gain wisdom and perspective, since one has been through many things, many times before.  For instance, I refused to get involved in the last real estate bubble.  I've seen several before, and you can't make a good investment when there is hysteria in the market.

That's why one has to be 35 to become President, not 18  (I submit that it probably should be at least 40.)  TR was the youngest President, Kennedy the second youngest.  I'll be honest with you; I wouldn't vote for anyone under 50.  People need to live life to understand the implications of the decisions they make.

eyesopened -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/21/2007 2:18:49 AM)

As many have pointed out, there are young fools and old fools and wisdom isn't age related.  i've found very foolish geniuses so even intelligence doesn't equal wisdom.  Experience doesn't equal wisdom.  It's the ability to processes ones experiences into something greater than a single lesson, to apply lessons into broader areas of life.  InkedMaster is older than some, younger than me.  He has a wide variety of life and 'lifestyle' experience but in all things He is very, very WISE.  Oh, and to me, Wisdom is very sexy!

I was wondering for the Older Doms out there...........does older make You wiser or are You still learning different aspects of the lifestyle?

I'm ALWAYS learning and evolving. I talk with friends, read the literature, get plenty ideas off these boards. There's always someone out there who knows something you don't that you might find useful.

i think Yoda much wisdom has.

backseatbebe -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/23/2007 12:23:42 PM)

yes, with experince comes wisdom usually
but you have to remember the exepreince most young Doms have is strictly in the bedroom
so sure they can have 5 years of "experience" but really its just rough sex
and so sure they can have plenty of sexual wisdom, but sadly many young Doms arent up to par on the mental side of bdsm "wisdom"
so it depends on what kind of wisdom you are talking about...
do they know how to control topping from the bottom? usually not
do they know the difference between a reward and a punishment? nah usually everything is cured with spankings for them
do they think controlling their penis is just as impoartant as controlling their sub? why pay for the milk when you can get it for free

now dont get me wrong, im a strong believer that there are "wise" young Doms out there *crosses her fingers*
but they are hard to come by

so all in all, no i dont believe older means wiser but i have yet to find a young Dom that proved that opinion

I used to think so, but now I can't remember why [>:]

MidMichCowboy -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/23/2007 5:57:30 PM)

I think time and experience can do one of two things:
Some will have the heart and intellect to learn as they go through life.
Others will make the same mistakes over and over and think they are wiser, while in reality, they are becoming more stupid.
You should be able to tell the difference.

I was wondering for the Older Doms out there...........does older make You wiser or are You still learning different aspects of the lifestyle? Does life-experience override a newbie or some one who has been in say 5+ years verses say 16+?
basically what i am trying to say without meaning disrespect of any kind just because You as a Dom who has years of experience worth more then a Dom that has only say 4 years of experience?
Thank-You for taking the time to read my post and answering it. i look forward to reading any one's answers

Hi sweetcreeangel,

When we were discussing something, I said to My therapist, "Of course I know what's in My body. Jeez, I'm fifty-three years old!". She then told Me many people My age have not got a clue what is inside them.

Wisdom is a combination of judgment, knowledge, and logic. Knowledge and logic can solve a problem. Judgment allows one to choose the solution which best fits the specific situation at hand.
The television program "Math Mentor" asks the kid calling in "What grade are you in?" A problem solved one way in high school has a different solution in fifth grade, and yet another solution in first grade.

One would expect judgment, knowledge, and logic to improve with age, and therefore expect wisdom to do likewise. But many people devolve as they age. They just... give up or something.

So: No, Virginia, older does not always mean wiser. In any case We all have different built-in skill sets, and different learned skill sets. If, though, you get someone such as Myself [hint, hint, :-)], who has not gone down the mid-life crisis tubes--I am sure there are many on here--then older usually is better.

Generally speaking, what We older people have is more life experience. "Life experience" is the polite term for having been through many bad times and come out the other side relatively intact. As I once told someone "I would rather have had less experience and more life!!"

All I can recommend is message Him for a while, e-mail for a while, and telephone for a while. His level of maturity should eventually make itself known. I hope this helps you.

Sincerely,
Master Dave

GentleandStrict -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/30/2007 10:27:43 AM)

a timeless question :)

Age doesn't define wisdom.  It can... but not always.

AMaster -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/30/2007 11:36:58 AM)

I hate to admit it, but I still have to say not always.

christine1 -> RE: Does older mean wiser? (12/30/2007 3:09:39 PM)

in my experience the wise ones are many ages, it depends on their desire to learn and put themselves forth into what interests them...age is meaningless, it is a persons desire to apply themselves that has importance in the long run.
