NakedOnMyChain -> Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 1:26:14 AM)

Ok. Not really. More a personal service announcement. I need to rant a bit. In my profile it fairly clearly states that I'm collared by and married to a wonderful man. I state that I'm not on this website for anything more than casual conversation and lifestyle discussion. Apparently I'm not being clear enough, because I'm solicited every day multiple times. Ok. Fine. But some of them tend to get mad when I turn them down (always as politely as possible). GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I wish people would read the person they're mailings profile thoroughly before soliciting play out of them. How could anyone expect to find a valid partner if they aren't even willing to expend the effort of reading someone's profile? On a side note, spamming random people's mailboxes saying that you loved their profile (all of them, apparently) and think they're the ONE is unnacceptable. If someone is so desperate for intimacy that they would take the first thing to come along, they are clearly on the wrong website. Self-help is more in order. These tendencies are not attractive, and surely do not endear you further to your desired playmate. Would you walk up to a person at a bar without looking at them first? Would you jump into bed with them without finding out anything about them? (OK. Maybe.)
Thanks for letting me rant. It's been infuriating me the past couple of days. Thanks.
~Michelle

Veav -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 7:31:00 AM)

*patpats* You are not alone by any means. I don't get as much of it - after all, I've got these Y chromosones, and that tends to invalidate me in many eyes - but when I first signed up for collarme, got a login together... you know how the admins have to approve the profile and picture before they get put into place? I had a message in my inbox within the first minute, I swear, asking, "Hey, got a pic?" Having seen nothing more than my alias, age, general location and theoretical affirmation. I didn't bother responding. Anyone whose first priority is just that, the picture, the physical representation - who thinks that this is the be-all and end-all of human interaction and a living breathing human being... they can look elsewhere.

I don't think that one was desperate so much as vapid, but desperate people happen too. As the man said, "There is no cause so noble that it will not attract fuggheads, and the fuggheads often get most of the publicity." I don't need to tell you to ignore 'em, you're doing that well enough on your own, but I will agree with you one hundred percent and offer a hearty eye-roll at their expense.

cellogrrlMK -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 7:47:15 AM)

Michelle, you are not alone. While I don't get multiple solicitations anymore (thank goodness) there's still the stray one that makes its way to my Inbox. I am polite to them too, ask them to READ my profile.... I've only had a couple be a-holes from that, and then they get blocked.

Just one of those things one must grin and bear I guess.

i dont get so mutch, i live in Norway and i am fat. But there is some that can not help but think a butiful woman must love them, becouse they are God`s gift to woman, and you Michelle is a butiful woman, take it as flattery and ignore them is my advice.

nella nella nella,

First of all, you are NOT fat! At least not by the picture on your profile... and you are also beautiful, if you didn't know it.

Now, the living in Norway part.... LOL (just kidding there!)

Be good to yourself....

Thank you cello. i do try, this is one of my issues, i was often teased aboute being ugly un school. It is strange how some mean coments can brake one down so totaly. But i am working on it, getting to like my apperance more, loosing some weight and becomming more happy. Thanks again, you made my day better.

MsIncognito -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 8:45:49 AM)

The other option is to make your profile as bland, unappealing and blunt as mine and that should take these kinds of emails down to only one or two a week instead of several a day. Despite this I still get emails saying "Let's just chat and see where things go." It makes me laugh because I already know where things are going - nowhere LOL

Why not change your profile or sign up as a couple? I appreciate that some "couples" are long distance couples, but at least the sort under singles won't pop your profile up. You can still post only a solo picture, and still can do all the correspondence. The downside may be if you both post to the boards there may be some confusion, but it's no less confusing when compared to those who have 10 personal profiles to match their multiple personalities and who post under the one that fits their current mood best.

nella, I have the same issues. Being teased? Imagine being the fat kid in school who was given the "fat" instrument to play! I remember not wanting to accept the cello, but then I found out I was pretty good at it... that just pissed the jerks off more, hence more teasing. So I hear you, and feel for you.

I'm always happy to make your day better. [:)]

grits -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 10:15:48 AM)

All i have under the essay section of my profile is that i'm here to read the forums, and that i'm not interested in anything else..period!! The totally amazing thing is that i not only get e-mails (which i kind of expected anyway), but i've actually gotten one or two "complimenting" me on what i wrote and how attractive i am...oy!! LOL!! On the one ocassion i wrote back, politely suggesting that he might actually want to read a profile before sending his obviously copy and paste letter, i was told i should get off the site cuz there's no room for wanna bes. At that point i gave up, and blocked..<g>

i learned a long time ago to pick my battles, and receiving unwanted e-mails just doesn't seem all that important to me in the scheme of things. i'm here to learn, make some new friends, i hope, and not to sweat the small stuff..<g>

cello, i have never been good whit instruments but i admire pepole that can play one. Kids can be so mean. It is true what pepole ahve aid, if you punch somone, they will heal, and be non the worce once the pain is gone, but say somthing hurtful to them and that hurt can last for many years.

batty24546 -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 10:21:59 AM)

I got the same problem. It dosen't matter what you write in your profile. I find half the people who e-mail don't even bother to ready it. Most of the e-mail i just delete unless, they say something more then, "hey, do you want to serve" then i may write back, that is if i have the time to...so many people to meet, so little time.

dechala -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 12:28:44 PM)

I used to get the same thing.Especially when I updated my profile to reflect that I was happily collared, seemed as if I got nastily solicited even more than when I was searching. The only thing you can really do is ignore and use the block function quite often.Eventually the emails will slow down,at least they have for me

For heaven's sake make your life easier.

Delete the message, block the sender and be a tiny bit grateful for the freely given bit of intelligence about one more person on this site whose letters and/or posts you needn't ever trouble yourself with.

I'm sure you don't sputter and fume at each piece of junk in your postal mail box and that refusal to fume is emotionally healthy of you. Giving the silly people you're describing the power to ruffle your feathers in even the slightest way doesn't seem to have an upside. And the point is that you needn't.

What impression are we to take from your preference to rant about a minor problem when its easy and simple resolution is at hand? I mean that doesn't *look* like the avatar of a drama queen. Maybe you hadn't noticed the Block Sender option. Yes, that must be it.

Wishing you a calmer tomorrow.

Noah

Well said.

Expecting other people to act on any particular standard of behavior, specially online, only leads to disappointment.

stormsfate -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 6:47:34 PM)

There are those who send out emails to people with newly created profiles. You could have been here for a year, but if you delete your account and then recreate your profile, or create a new profile, you will get bombarded with those same people contacting you all over again. They aren't generally the people who read these boards, either, so they aren't likely to read your rant.

However, there is a solution. If you go into your email preferences, and have everything from males and/or dominants sent to your bulk mail folder for a few weeks, you won't have to even see them if you don't specifically go looking for them. You won't receive notifications, and after a while, your emails will drop down to a manageable number :)

best regards,
fate

Hi Nella and All. First off, You should NEVER put yourself down. It's bad enough that the rotten people in the world do it, let along doing it to yourself. My dear wife Nancy, is a LITTLE CHUNKY, but it doesn't mater to anyone but her. In the USA, we call some heavy women, BBW...Big Beautiful Women.

Now for the other.....You are going to get Crepy e-mail no matter what you say..just Block them. I was going to e-mail you myself, just to chat like you said in your profile, Naked on my chain, but since your having too much trouble, I won't bother. Take care and forget them.....get on with life, fun, games and of course, Bondage.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Public Service Announcement (8/10/2005 8:41:43 PM)

Of course I ignore these types of people. But I happen to be fairly openminded and maybe, just maybe they have something informative to say. So I don't ignore them immediately. That's when things gravitate toward rudeness. Are you and EmeraldSlave honestly telling me that there's nothing tiny that "ruffles your feathers", as you so eloquently put? We all have little things that irk us. Nothing is quite so cut and dry as just ignoring everything that bothers you. It just so happened that I got a very large number of e-mails the night of the post, and needed to vent a bit. I believe I accomplished that. As for the impression you're to draw from this post, frankly, Noah, I don't give a damn.

Nella hon, you are not ugly. That is an honest opinion. I don't bother to lie. Remember, people always need someone to pick on. It is one of our less admirable traits as a species. There is us and there is them. If you're one of the them, you're fair game. You ended up as one of the them in school.. probably because you're easy to hurt. Picking on someone isn't any fun if they don't care. Being sensitive made you vulnerable, and it also means that their actions have left an emotional wound in you. I'm glad you're learning to understand the fact that you're not ugly. That is the first step to healing what has been done to you. You seem like a good person and you have my respect. *smiles*
