One of my partners is interested in adding cross-dressing to our repertoire.  Since this is my first foray into feminization, I've been searching the Internet for sites that cater to MTF T-girls for helpful hints.  The problem is his jaw.  He has a very strong, masculine profile but all of the makeup tips focus on beard cover and choosing the right colors for his skin rather than tricks to soften his features.  I'm reluctant to ask any of the local drag queens because, frankly, I don't like how over-done their look is.  We both want something a bit more natural.  Do any of you wonderful folks know of good websites or books that will teach us how to give him a more feminine profile using makeup?

I agree with you about the drag queen look.  All they will be able to teach is what they know and you are seeing the results.....

All of the major cosmetic companies like Max Factor, Revlon etc have instructional sections.  After all, they want you to buy their stuff and use it, so teaching goes hand in hand.

Additionally, there is a company called TG Cosmetics that has some great stuff on their sites about how to use cosmetics.  The Eyebrowz site also has a TG section and products to get a feminine arch without plucking using their stencils and how to's.

Make sure your partner has fun with his makeup.  That's the best part of all!

Something I think is a pitfall that many cd's fall into is the thought process behind their use of makeup.  They try to make it change them into a woman, which it will not.  They need to use makeup in the same way women do, to look better.

Thanks, I'll check those.  He's got the ultimate "guy" chin...you know, the one with the cleft in it.  We're trying to avoid him looking like Nathan Lane or Willem DaFoe in drag if at all possible.

You may have killed two birds with one stone here. fictionmania.com has thousands of stories and everyone of them has to do with feminization. It is owned by The Glamour Botique, which is a very, very good site for anyone seeking feminization. They also have a world class  (in my opinion) makeup artist that may be able to help. Their website is huge, and they are very willing to help.
Now this may sound like someone talking that works for Glamour Botique. In fact, I'm just a very satisfied customer. I've had a full makeover done there, and they take the time to explain everything. I'm sure they can help online also. I hope this helps.

One of the things I think you can do to help with the jaw line is making sure his hair or wig covers the jaw and maybe even layered against the face...like a layered bob style.

Hi, Sylvere.

The TGs who have a masculine jaw often need bone surgery or bone resorption therapy.

Sounds like your guy is one such... I'd look for girls with a masculine appearance to find inspiration.

i don't have any wonderful answers as i don't know much about this, but i would recommend checking out kevyn aucoin's books and work. he was an absolutely amazing makeup artist who worked on many really famous people, and one of his specialties was crossdressing and facial feminization. i haven't read all of his books - just making faces - but i remember that one having several really awesome examples with instructions. his other work on women's faces also had a lot of makeup tips for softening that might help you out as well.

Thanks Aswad, Annabelle, and MsIncontrol for your suggestions.  If he were going to fully transition to female, he would definitely need surgery.  However, we're not prepared to go that far.  My honey's just too handsome as he is.  [:)]  We're still in the "R&D" phase so I'm collecting all the info I can get my hands on before we begin.  I've already been to the library to check the selection of stage makeup instruction books.  I'll definitely look for Aucoin's books as well.

I don't think there is a magic bullet for all faces and we are kind of born with the facial features unless surgery or injury changes them dramtically. So its kind of work with what you have and not all men will have a face that can look like the other gender ( and vice versa) . I know my own face has masculine features that just can't be covered no matter what I do but *grin* I have fun anways. There are quite a few resources out there and http://members.shaw.ca/MsCruellaDivine/is a nice summary of some basics , or at least I think so.

If its fun for all involved I suspect obsessing over the "perfect" look may detract. The more times one uses makeup the more one can adjust to their skin tone , facial features and what not and well the mistakes and oops of say mascarra or eyeliner decrease dramtically. For people who have used makeup for years it all seems easy but for someone who hasn't used makeup or doesn't do so on a regular basis , some basic can be found on the cosmetics makers web sites as mentioned before. I am always amazed at how fast some ladies can do their makeup and look absolutely amazing.

I used to be a make up artist, and this is a tricky one. You are never going to completely disguise a very angular jaw, but experimenting with shaders and highlighters can create a more feminine illusion. Maybe buy a couple of cheap foundations in colours a shade lighter and darker than your fellas skin and have a crack with them? Also the right wig can work wonders. Hope that helps!!

Actually I agree that the only good solution is in the hair cut!   A layered cut that ends right at the jaw bone is the best trick but so many prefer longer hair so it's often a dilemma.   Contouring is essential and a key rule is light comes forward and dark receds.

Besides the good hair suggestion on another post (hair softly curling in towards the face, covering some of that strong bone structure) the one thing I know that works best: Light shading on both sides of the jaw just above the bottom of the chin. Makes it look thinner on the sides. This really works and is the best thng I know to soften up that jaw line.
