Actually, civilian weapons were superior to military weapons all the way up until the early 20th century. The Kentucky Rifle was far more superior to the smoothbore weapons that most armies at the time were carrying. During the civil war, there were repeating rifles avaliable for sale. The Henry rifle and the Spencer rifle were superior weapons to the Springfield muzzle loaders. The single shot trapdoor Springfields that U.S. Calvary carried were a large reason the Custer and his men were annihilated at the Little Big Horn by Sioux carrying Winchester repeaters.

that just the 13 colonies to show intent of the law. people today want to make the right to own and bear a collective right and it was never intended to be solely a collective right. It was intended to be an individual right and the reason for that right is extends also to the collective, the militia, which is a cititizen militia, under civil authority that can be called by the congress or president.

Since the redefinition in 1942, and the suypreme court doens not have the authority to "redefine" our constitution, they are leaning it to the collectove more and more and that simply is not the intention as this predates the constitution by about 1000 years.

If individuals weren't to be granted the right to keep and bear arms, how were people expected to put meat in the pot?
