bipolarber -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 7:23:55 AM)

Kurt Vonnegut said it best, I think:

"We are all here in this thing called life to help each other through it (whatever "it" really is).

I come on the message boards to share what I know, what I think, and to speak out against the things that deeply bother me. I probably won't have much impact on the latter, but I feel the need to. I remember my grandfather talking about how our family spoke out against the nazis before finally being forced from Germany. They spoke out, because they felt it was the right thing to do. (History seems to have vindicated their opinions.)

Gor deeply bothers me.

I love to hear myself talk and impress others with my brilliance and wit.

Actually, I know you don't mean it, but you do impress me with your brilliance and wit quite often.

Thanks Laurell, you've made my day. *beams*

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 7:33:52 AM)

why am i here?

to conduct a psychological study and evaluation of members who post here. it's a secret govt project no one knows about.

just kidding about the last part however the first part is true - it has been one educational and learning experience about some more than others who regularly post.  Daddy said i would learn something here.

krikket -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 7:40:25 AM)

To learn
To interact
To connect
To make smart comments

probablyknowme -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 8:32:35 AM)

To actually discuss this lifestyle, instead of just doing it mindlessly. I get so frustrated with boards without any real discussion.

And to be a pain in the ass sometimes! [:D]

To attempt to inject some common sense into those wearing rose colored glasses. For 14 years, I've watched submissives throw themsleves in head first under the misguided view that D/s relationships are any different than mainstream relationships.

MAN! I HOPE my D/s relationship is different from the mainstream relationship I was in!! There are WAYYYY too many bad memories associated with that for me to ever accept that one is just like the other. (I know what you mean though. I was just sitting here contemplating the differences when I read this comment - Thanksgiving holidays and all that...I am utterly grateful I'm out of the mainstream.)

I understand what you're saying too.

I've watched people decide what to do with the rest of their lives based on a one hour coffee meeting. I've talked to women that decided to meet a guy in a dark alley, completely naked, only to end up raped...simply because he said he was a Dom. I've listened to women that played and had sex on the first meeting lament for weeks when he never contacted them again. The reality is that the results most likely won't be any different just because it's BDSM D/s.

I know...

The problem is that those people you're describing MAY ask the opinions of others but in the end, after pages and pages of text warning them of the possible consequences of their actions, they'll still be in the bed or alley or making decisions over coffee with someone they've never met before.

And for all the conversation regarding the possible consequences, all it takes is one person to say "I did this or that with my Master on the first night and have never been happier" to make them discount all of the good and common sense that has previously come their way.

So now, for the most part, I'm here for the discourse.

I come here for laughs, and periodic enlightenment.

domiguy -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 10:48:03 AM)

To post ...FUCK ...and then stalk!

KatyLied -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 10:52:19 AM)

I'm here for entertainment.  And amusement.

Kaiynasha -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 10:52:33 AM)

I am here because I like reading and writing. To give my advice if I want and to learn some new things. I also love reading the bull-crap- some people here are D/drama Q/queens and K/kings- who talk nothing but utter nonsense. Others have some real good stuff to say.

Jeffff -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 11:07:38 AM)

Katy......everytime I see your name I start singing that song in My head. Thank you for not picking a really sucky song....lol

Jeff

KatyLied -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 11:08:49 AM)

LadyChef -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 11:15:36 AM)

Where else do so many free minds come to think out loud?

Having an answer, or a different viewpoint, to someone who asks a question.

And poking the monkeys sometimes. I like doing that.[:D]

You're an evil woman MM, but yeah I agree, monkey poking should be an olympic sport!  Also, I challenge my own perspective and try to learn from others about things I'm undecided or uncomfortable with.

breatheasone -> RE: Why are you here? (11/23/2007 1:21:17 PM)

I'm here because I have no one in person i can talk to, and ask questions of....Master and I talk daily, and we have wonderful talks, but we both are farily new, and don't have nearly all the answers yet...Well...lol.... nor will we i suspect, but i mean its nice to see view points from people with years in, rather then just my months in.
