LostMyself -> The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 8:26:18 PM)

Don't we all dream about him, no matter how we identifiy ourselfs?  Don't we want to be swept off our feet (out of control)  If he's not plenty stronger, how can he protect us?  If his personality isn't more dominant, how can he take care of us?  If that sword won't destroy anyone who might try to hurt us, who is he?  And if he can't hurt us, how couldn he possibly hurt someone trying to do us harm?  Yes, personally, I like being choked, feeling helpless to the whim of a man.. but if the man is strong enouph to protect me, when am I not at his whim?

Just a thought..

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 8:51:05 PM)

Ummmm...no, not so much.  Not grooving on feeling helpless, EVER.

Big strong guy who always has my six?  Sure, that's a good thing.

MsIncontrol -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:06:31 PM)

Funny, my idea of a knight in shining armor is different.

My knight will give his life to protect me, do my bidding and come back to the castle a warrior ready to relax behind the safety of our castle walls.   My knight is strong and valient, yet he kneels before me like the queen I am :-)

edited for drinking too much wine and spell checker not being able to correct for stupid drunk girl.

IdiotMale -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:08:23 PM)

What about your Day in shining armor?

AnimusRex -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:12:25 PM)

Be careful what you ask for....Many Men enjoy being that valiant Knight...only to find that it produces perverse results....sometimes only enabling a submissive's sense of helplessness and neediness and incompetance....constantly being the damsel in distress can become a form of infantilism.

MissMagnolia -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:13:17 PM)

Um, no. I have never felt the need to "lose control" to any man.

You might get your jollies having a man choke you and make you feel helpless. I'm afraid I don't.

If his personality isn't more dominant, how can he take care of us? As a Domme, why would I want a man who is more dominant than I? Kinda goes against the grain. You know, the whole crazy "Domme" thing.[8|]

Hottiegurl -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:29:11 PM)

I lost my knight in armor.  Now, I don't know if I will find another in the same metal.  Maybe I will find one more shining or tarished.  However, I will continue to look for one who turns me into a giddy maiden wanting to give over to him what I have to share.

daddysblondie -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:40:15 PM)

Hmm...I tend to think of the idea of a knight in shining armor as a rescuer and while I do desire to give myself over and submit to a man, I have no want or need to "be rescued". In fact, I had a relationship end because he wanted to rescue me and it was the last thing I wanted.

So sure, ride up in your armor, sweep me off my feet, take me back to your castle and have your way with me, but I have no need to be rescued from my life. I'm quite happy and at the end of the day I want someone to share in that happiness not try be the sole source of it.

RRafe -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/22/2007 10:43:12 PM)

I quit trying to be the knight............when I kept getting set up to fail-and got bitched at for being the dragon.[:D]

I think there is a grain of truth to what the OP wrote.  But I also firmly believe the above hit on one of the biggest drawbacks.  There are those perrenial "damsels in distress" who look for a "knight" to rescue them and solve all their problems.  In the modern age that usually translates into some version of paying off all their credit card debt, raising their 2.5 children with 1.5 fathers, clothing, feeding and housing them, while catering to their addiction (whether that be food, alcohol, drugs or QVC).  Much more rarely is it rescuing someone who is already trying to lift themselves up and just could use a bit of help.

I hung up my spurs some years ago.  I'll still help those whom I deem worthy, and that judgement is often based on how much they are already trying to help themselves.

As for the OPs points about being strong, capable, and a little dangerous... its been my observation that there are a great number of women who find that appealing.  Its curious that the most popular picture of myself is one of me with my long hair a bit wild, wearing a duster, a large knife on my hip, standing in the woods looking a bit imperious... not one of me in a three piece suit or a nice sweater.  Most women I've know want a man who makes them feel safe, secure and protected... and most of those women derived that from a man who was strong, capable, dominant and a little bit dangerous.

Take from that what you will.

Knights don't always shine.  Some can be evil or downright stupid.  They are swordarms that protect a realm for money or promises of power.

Princes, on the other hand...why, they can be commanding, foresightful, men of power who make hard choices and accept consequence.

Or, they can be toads.

Don't live the hype or you risk the stigma.  Even beggars can be wise, strong, quick of wit and charismatic.

adoracat -> RE: The knight in Shining Aromor (11/23/2007 1:19:04 AM)

LordFallcon...i always lovingly referred to as my knight in dented and tarnished armor.  he maintained that real knights got dinged up in the course of fighting day to day battles.

i dont see Daddy as my knight, although he is my Dark Knight....he's my Daddy.  he isnt there to rescue me, but just to be the person i look up to, wish to serve and love.

In my dream:
"He" is not in armour... His covering is a breechclout.
...his intention, not to save, but to capture..
sweeps me up and rides away with me tightly secured to him, I am blindfolded and bound.
He protects me from myself..from running away
and from others taking me from him...but i am his now and I WILL learn to need him in a foreign land ,frought with challenges and humiliation.  But he makes me feel secure..
he makes me trust that he alone is the difference between whether I survive or thrive.   I can't help myself but come to love him, my protector....with his fierce eyes that penetrate to my core. His quiet confidence that speaks volumes. He is my captor. He is as fierce with others as he is persuasive and gentle with me.  He is of brave heart.  My resistance never swayed him.  My wild spirit makes him smile.  The scared panic look in my eyes is calmed by the touch of his hand and the look in his eyes.
My bonds are removed....no longer needed..
I am captive, but now by my own hearts desire to be His.

aren't dreams just wunnnerful?   [:D]    [;)]

I always felt that my knight, was the man who treated me like a queen.
I stopped dreaming about the knight in shining aromor when I gave up on fairy tales.

LOL that's cute

Personally, I have no need for a man who feels the need to 'rescue me'; which is the mental picture I get whenever I think of a white knight in shining armor.
/shudders
Yuck
No thank you

However, take away the knight bit...yes, I do perfer than men be stronger physically than me; but not because it turns me on to 'savor the difference in strength'. [:)]

edited because dayumit I can't spell this early in the morning [&:]
