daddyncherry -> I'll see your Prince Charming and raise you an Ideal Princess.. (11/23/2007 7:07:15 PM)

After reading the "Prince Charming "and "Knight in Shining Armour" threads it made me think....and maybe "Ideal princess" isn't the right descpription, but it fit with all the fairy tales...[:)]

Soooo how many of you have been "victim"  of trying to live up to the perfect ideal that is shoveled into our heads by the media from childhood on.  Whether that is some fairy tale "princess" or June Cleaver or Donna Reed? Even though your Master/Mistress/Dom/me tries to reassure you that you are just fine the way you are.

i am very guilty of this. Trying to always attain the unattainable perfection and if it isn't totally perfect then it is a failure. i look at my Master/Daddy as a King of the Castle and of our realm and am always trying to do it all perfectly....trying to be the perfect little Suzi Homemaker and total nasty little slut all rolled into one.

my ideal though is much harsher to accomplish than that which he wishes of me...but this just sets up for alot of failure on its own (in my head).

I've heard this concept alot from other sub types and it seems like a very common thing....and yet...it seems  acceptable and like a positive to want to attain this level of perfect for one's "M"...not necessarily wanting to be a Princess in a Shining apron and stillettos..but close....and yet all of the Prince Charming/Knight in Shining Armor stuff seems to be looked down on.

Just something that made me think.
What do ya'll think?

Aye...I did this to myself, and my brain blew up when I was about 32ish LOL. I'm better now.......[;)]
Edited to add: *had been married with three kids for twelve years by then*

angelslave77 -> RE: I'll see your Prince Charming and raise you an Ideal Princess.. (11/23/2007 7:19:08 PM)

I personally see it as a female thing, so often we try to be everything to everyone while trying to attain some false untainable perfection. And yes it is hard to accept someone telling you you are beautiful perfect amazing but goddamn it is nice to hear and even better when you truly open your heart and realise that really is what they see when the look at you. My Sir makes me feel like a goddess and at first it made me blush and I could not respond but now i feel like I have such a huge inner strength and his faith in me seems to make me glow

Hey... some of us already perfected that years ago.  [;)]

*saunters off singing....*

"I'm A Woman"

Well I can wash out forty four pairs of socks
And have 'em on the line.
You know I can starch and iron two dozen shirts
'fore you can count from one to nine.
I can slip up a great big dip up of lard
From a drippings can.
Throw it in the skillet, do my shopping,
And be back before it melts in the pan.

'Cause I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.
Let me tell ya again.
I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.

Well I can rub and scrub
'til this house shines just like a dime.
Feed the baby, grease the car,
Powder my nose at the same time.
You know I can get all dressed up,
Go out swinging with the M-A-N,
Jump in bed at five, sleep 'til 6,
And start all over again.

'Cause I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.
Let me tell ya again.
I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.

Well now if you come to me sick,
You know that I'm gonna make you well.
And if you come to me all hexed up,
You know I'm gonna break the spell.
And if you come to me hungry,
You know I'll feed ya full of my grits.
And if it's loving you want,
I can kiss you and give you the shivering fits.

'Cause I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.
I'll say it again.
I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.

I can stretch a greenback dollar bill
From here to kingdom come
I can play the numbers, pay my bills
And still end up with some
I got a twenty dollar gold piece says
There ain't nothin' I can't do
I can make a dress out of a feed bag
And I can make a man out of you.

'Cause I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.
I'll say it again.
I'm a woman...
W-O-M-A-N.

I'm a woman.
I'm a woman.
I'm a woman.
Yeah, I'm a woman.

Interesting to note that that song was written by two men, Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller.  [:D]

AbsitInvidia -> RE: I'll see your Prince Charming and raise you an Ideal Princess.. (11/23/2007 7:41:07 PM)

That is a very interesting point. There is a subtle difference however...being an 'ideal Princess' is about being the best woman you can be...whereas being a white knight is dependent on how you interact with another person. Being a white knight makes the assumption that you have to 'rescue' somebody, and I think that's the problem a lot of people have with it. In a way it's reminiscent of feminism - the whole "Don't do that for me, I can do that for myself" thing.

Personally I don't *need* a man to take care of me...but I appreciate it when he does. And what you described as the ideal Princess is just my way of giving back to him. When I cook for my Lord it's not just to make food - I want to make it perfect for him because it's just one of many ways to show him I adore him. I'm taking care of him too...making him food, keeping the house (well...somewhat [;)] ) and it makes me happy to do that.

I don't see anything wrong with constantly working hard to improve yourself...I see no point in settling for mediocrity. I want to be the best woman I can be - both for myself, and as a reflection of the man who owns me. And I've found my Prince Charming too [:)]

I don't think the problem is with having women strive to be an ideal Princess...I think the problem is mocking any man who strives to be a noble 'Prince Charming' and live his life with honor.

Hi, I'm Cyndi and I'm a perfect-aholic...
it's been 18 months since my last outbreak....
Thankful for this remission, I realize it is a disease and...

oh wait...wrong forum

altho, there is nothing fairy-tale about it...it's a pain in the rump to try to live up to standards put-upon us..
altho'  I have come to realize that before I point the finger of blame in my mothers direction or at media ...I need to take responsibility and acknowledge that there are  3 other fingers pointing back at myself.

Oddly enough, I do not want/expect/dream of Master being perfect.
And, I can say that my relationship with him has actually been the catalyst for me being able to accept my faults...embrace my imperfections and be willing to RISK without fear, because there is no right or wrong way to "feel" ... just feel......"failing" is not in his vocabulary and he is helping me remove it  from mine.

First...that made me smile...i belong in PA (perfectionist annonymous LOL)...yep...tis true.
i also do NOT want or expect any type of perfection in my Master/Daddy or in anyone else...but for some reason i have a harder time giving myself the same consessions as others....

As for failing...my Daddy has this philosophy that he has learned...that  the people who succeed are ALL failures...before they accomplished whatever it is they have it is because they tried and failed...at something...maybe alot of somethings....So they were all okay being failures and the ability to continue trying and RISKING failure is what brought them to where they are.

It's a bit difficult to be haughty, or to look perfect in a situation like that. Especially at the moment that you totally lose control. And you cannot eascape it-and you are on total display-your dom could invite anyone in to see you, just like that. And not a damned thing you could do to stop it.

If you really want to stop this self serving emotional type of bullshit-no better way to do it than introduce a girl to her base animal side. It's not something that is ever forgotten.

That is absolutely true and one reason it is difficult to find a Dominant who is secure enough to make that introduction. Most will only go as far to tell you about your base animal side, but are trepidatious about going too far.

I only met one Dom in my life who took it as far as I needed to find my base animal side.

There are wheels within wheels in this-is you fail to see them all-you never get too far.

By showing an acceptance of all parts and facets of an individual-you know see a whole.

Not just the fragments that we see as more attractive.  There is basically nothing of a woman that I can;t see as natural- or feel repulsed by. When you can not let the things that society tries to keep hidden from your view-be obscured-there lies intimacy.

I don't know who Donna Reed is, but June Cleaver seems familiar. [8|]

I'm the very antithesis of a June Cleaver/Martha Stewart type of girl.  My s/n was an old high school joke about HOW far from being a domestic goddess I am.  I don't know how to cook or clean or be a homemaker.  I'm far from perfect.  But I think that's kind of hot, so does my Dominant.

I got the opportunity to deal with those 'being perfect' in a relationship issues in my earlier relationships.  I'm still a obsessive perfectionist at many things like school and work, but a relationship where you are constantly trying to be perfect and perceived as perfect is too draining to be a part of.

I totally agree with you and wish more men had that vision. I do believe that some men are afraid of letting out the true base animal sides of themselves, so of course they would be loathe to test the waters with someone one.

I understand that, sometimes parents and people in other positions of power or people you look up to when you're a child, don't realise that what they think is a casual off the cuff, throw away comment, is something that a child takes to heart and internalises.

Especially if the comment is repeated often, get told often enough as a kid that you're a failure and you will react in either one of two ways, you will overachieve in an effort to get that praise, or you will stop bothering because you think it doesnt matter how hard you try, its never enough.

And once internalised those things are damned hard to get rid of.
