Most common to least, by my rough observation: -Female sub -Male Dom -Male sub -Female Dom (Assumption: There is an equal number of males and females in BDSM.) Notes: -Male Dom/female sub is the most common configuration. -Female subs tend to be the most common gender/stance, followed by the male Dom's. This tends to be offset by a fair portion of male Dom's having multiple sub's. -Domme's are relatively rare. So much so that prostitution is fairly common. -Male sub's aren't as common as male Dom's, but they're still pretty common. Unfortunately for them, there's a relative shortage of Domme's, many of whom accuse most male sub's of being "fakes". (An issue I won't dignify here.) -Homosexuality and transexuality both exist relatively frequently in this lifestyle (when compared to vanilla life). This can complicate it. -Dominiant/Dominant couples exist. -submissive/submissive couples exist. -Poly groups exist. (Groups connected by the members' multiple relationship partners.)
