Silent Hill 4 is fantastic!
My favourite SH is 2 though.
And if you like Silent Hill - recommend to watch the Ring(original)

FF7 is arguably one of, if not the, best RPG ever. I cried a lot at one point and had my head spin at others. Sephiroth = total psycho, but he's also hot.

You know, I was in the mall the other day and walked into Electronics Boutique, where they were showing demos of the new Madden '06. I was stunned. I played Madden around 1994 or 1995, and was great at it--because all you had to do on offense was master about three plays, and you'd score at least 90 points every time. I played Madden on PS2 two or three years ago with my nephew, and I still clobbered him with my tactics from 1995, even though the game was a little harder this time around.

But the new version looks impossible. The clerk was friendly (I mean, what else does he have to do all day except talk to customers about Madden '06?), and did his best to explain all the innovations to me. I told him, What about people with jobs? I don't think I'd ever have enough time to master that game.

Edited to add: Since there seem to be some hardcore gamers on here, I have a question. Did anyone on here ever solve the old Pools of Radiance game? I mean the original one from ca. 1994. I remember being so frustrated with that fucker that I deleted it from hard drive just to teach it a lesson.

I finished Silent Hill in a day and a half. The reason was I was almost finished at night. . .and I was too scared to stop and do anything else. . . .so I kept playing til day break. . . and I was finished. That game scared the FUCK out of me.

I know exactly how you feel. I tried playing that thing originally on the Commodore 64, then again later when they released it for DOS on the PC. I never got very much further than the Library either time. My husband though claims to have gotten thru it. All I can say is he must be infinitely more patient than I am!

Silent Hill 2 is very good. I have gotten every ending in the Greatest Hits edition. I bought SH3 on a lark one day, it was the first I had been exposed to the series I took it home thinking, "How scary can it be? Its only a video game after all..." Yeah, good thinking. I never knew how involved that game would make me feel. Truly a survival horror classic.

And yes, I own the movie The Ring. Loved it.

Watch for Silent Hill the movie. I have heard talk about them making one and, in fact, I believe it is in production.

Come to think of it, maybe the game I mean is Pools of Darkness. I don't remember. It was the last game in the series, whatever it was called. I could get to the final scene every time, but then the monsters would come at you in wave after wave, and without a chance to rest and heal up your guys would just start dropping dead one after another.

Oh well. I guess it was not given to me to see the final video in the 1994 DOS version of Pools of Darkness.

I'm a big ol' chicken and could only watch the game while it was played. They are making a movie though. Sean Bean's going to be in it.

One of these days, I'm gonna play the Silent Hill games just to see what the big deal is. It takes a hell of a lot to scare me.

Edit: Whee, I'm a pervert now.

It takes a hell of a lot to scare me as well. Silent Hill is scary. Start with either Silent Hill 2 or 3. The story is stronger in Silent Hill 2 than in SH3 but I found SH3 to be overall more apt to make me jump than SH2. I guess what makes it compelling is the fact that you have a vested interest in keeping your character alive and free of harm. The environments are creepy and disturbing. The monsters are just plain strange. I didn't think a video game could scare me... man, was I wrong.

Tifa's chest has to be fake, unless she's like Dolly Parton and just absurdly lucky. She's actually the only date I haven't gotten yet. The Barret one is SO not worth it.
