Were you wearing your chaps?[;)]

Midear Proud,

Well, yes, but I was wearing jeans under them, and I was on a motorcycle, so it wasn't that big a giveaway<g>.

it's good to see you.

Stay warm,

I agree with MasterFireMaam and Wild of course.  To me that's not validation- that's using a line and presuming his notions of submission are the right ones and generalizing them towards me, as well as forcing inappropriate physical contact as a way to get my hormones running.

I'd much prefer someone to ask me in private and respect the social standards of manners.  I know it's a hot and heady experience to have, but I learned a long time ago that that's not really the best sign of what makes someone a good partner.

I was once having a bowl of tomatillo chili at a local bar....Upon taking my first bite, I demanded to see the chef.

In a few minutes the chef was standing in front of me, "Is there a problem with the chili?" she asked.  I stared into her eyes, grabbed her wrists and said, "Only a sub could make chili like this."  She immediately smiled and I could see her nipples tighten underneath her shirt.  She took me back into the kitchen and immediately blew me.

Much to my displeasure, upon returning to the bar my chili had grown tepid....I left in disgust without tipping because I don't play that way....It's all about the service.  When dining at this place I can wholeheartedly recommend the chili....The blow jobs are lacking imagination.

Re:OP (too lazy to quote)

Bah, that was weak game.  The fact that it worked on you means that he was a)exceptionally lucky or b) exceptionally perceptive.  But my money's on option a.

Instead of "I know you..." for the direct approach, he should have gone with "You're too real... you feel like an open book, even though that's just the surface--you're like a book/painting/whatever that has hidden depth.  Have you ever seen something painted by X?"  And pulled you into his interests by comparing you to them.  That way you a)get a feel for what he likes right off the bat, b)are turned on by the fact that he's controlling the interaction without being insulting or over-the-top, but also not catering to you, but setting you up to prove yourself to him; a c)gives you something to talk about besides "U r hot, wanna squish nasties?"  d) He gave you a compliment that's unique and expands your mind.  And it's very easy to transition this opener to, say, The Story of O, or any art involving bondage.  Much slicker that way.

You can call this opener lame if you want, but it's field-tested.  Try it out yourself, guys.  I've got natural down, I won't miss this one... it's of a style called a 'cold read', if you're familiar with those things.

D

What matters is how it made you feel. Pick-up line or recognition it doesn't matter. Did you enjoy it? did it hurt anyone? then keep that warm feeling and the smile it gave you [;)] There is alot of negative interaction with strangers we all have to dismiss, but compliments? please keep those!
