I tend to be brutally honest and intellectual. When I found Master and started chatting with him in the begining aside from the honesty, it was actually his sense of humor and laid back attitude that I liked first. So i dont limit things , nice surprizes come from being open.

I look for someone similar to me in traits, but their brand of that trait can be vastly different, that keeps things interesting.  For example any partner of mine has to be very intellectual, very adventurous, and have a silly, dorky side, like me.  But the intellectual topics that turn them on can be a lot different from me, that way we learn from eachother; the kinds of adventures we enjoy can be different, that way we experience new things together; and our styles of dorkiness are different so that we crack eachother up and are not just predictable clones.  That is how it has always been in my best relationships.

For me, having a preconception of who and what my partner should be would be too limiting. I like surprises, and have been around the block enough times to know that sometimes the unexpected can be pretty damn wonderful.

My .02 zlotys: I'm looking for someone who shares most of the same interests I do, but decidedly not a clone. I wouldn't call that a preconception, just who I am and what I'm seeking.

Some differences make for the spice in any relationship, D/s or otherwise. The worst date I had in my entire around-many-blocks life was someone with whom I had everything in common with, even to a similar name! I'm also all-too-familar with the opposite situation, where we have nothing in common. It is not a Martha Stewart good thing.

Finding the submissive woman I want as mine in a long-term relationship is something that, when/if it happens, I won't have to ask if it's right. She and I will both just know....

Yeah, it sounds sappy. So what? [sm=biggrin.gif]

Similar but not the same.

Someone who compliments my strengths and helps me to work on my weaknesses. A balance.

Gwynvyd -> RE: What is your ideal (11/25/2007 12:39:41 PM)

as for simular or not... I like a bit of both. My girl loves a lot of the things I do... Reading, cooking, medieval re-enactments, Horses, sewing... and we both have a cop/military guy fetish.. *chuckles*

I am totaly outgoing ~ social butterfly, she is a bit of a mess. *chuckles* She gets word vomit.. it just all comes out. Her whole life story in the 30 mins she holds the person who happened by hostage.

I love to go out.. I have to drag her out.. it is a balancing act... I have to be on time.. she is always running late.. *always* It is not that I was looking for those things in a mate mind you... but it certainly keeps it interesting. LOL

Okay so i realized that i personally did not answer the original question so i will give it a shot.. I am drawn to people who have skills that i lack ... i tend to be attracted to people who have skills that i lack and lack in skills that i have so that it is quite complimentary. Because of this i would have intially answered that i like people who differ but upon deeper refection i realized that as far as traits such as "The Big Five" personalities, (openess, conscientiousness and extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism,) although some are more important than others, i like to find people that are similar to me.
