unravel -> RE: Love in D/s form... (11/27/2007 11:51:45 AM)

From my submissive perspective, i could not envision a D/s relationship without any sort of emotional connection, any sort of caring at one degree or another for each other... i really just could not.
However, the point raised above about the risks of "loving" One or one and the damages it can bring to the D/s dynamics are real. How i see it is that it is a "D/s love", a different kind of loving and caring that runs the engine of the D/s relationship. So "love", yes, definitely, but not in the "classical" sense of the term.

Having a D/s relationship can reach deeper levels of the mind than a regular vanilla relationship... just for the simple fact that submission takes willingness and trust and the Dominant has to be aware of their submissive... No Dominant is going to go any farther than what their sub lets them, unless it is part of the play or part of the training to push those buttons...
So there has to be some kind of trust, love or understanding that keeps the relationship consensual, whether relationship based or not... Having a sub is a relationship, whether love is involved or not.
