I think something to consider is that there is the reality and the fantasy. And I think to some extent in every D/s relationship there has to be a little bit of living the fantasy even though the reality won't allow it. In other words, we half fool oursleves into believing that the fantasy is reality when it isn't. That isn't to say that we are all running around in a dream world, but rather at the very edges where reality and fantasy collide, we believe in the fantasy and then report it to others as being a reality. Just as an example - who really has a sub/slave that really has no say in anything? And if they choose the leave, then what? Kidnapping charges? Forced imprisonment charges? The reality is that in nearly all cases the sub/slave chooses to stay and everyone (including the sub/slave) just pretends they have no say. Either that or we cross over the line into abuse. Just something to keep in mind. And I am by no means advocating that anyone stop believing in the fantasy - it is what makes all of this so much fun.
