Status: offline 		Prompted by a post in the off topic discussion area about what does 'PITA' mean, I was thinking about how many abbreviated words there are in our language, abbreviations that have come into common use, so I thought to start this thread for the eduction and amusement of others.Some abbreviations that I know I have listed below, I invite others;

1. U/S - UnServiceable, but possibly fixable.
2. FUBR -Broken, definately not fixable(Fukt Up Beyond Repair)
3. PITA - Pain In The Arse
4. PETA -People Eat Tasty Animals
5. D/S - Obvious this one
6. BDSM - Again obvious

Some I can think of having just woke up.

Please feel free to add others?

Never saw that one before, but had seen this many times:

FUBAR (F*cked Up Beyond All Repair)

In central upstate NY, there was, at one time, a largish music festival that used FUBAR as its name.

Technically, it's only an acronym if the letters form a new word, rather than being pronounced individually. Thus, SNAFU is an acronym, while BDSM isn't.
