mejo -> Recommendations for a Leather corset? (11/28/2007 11:27:54 AM)

     For starters Hi everyone!

I am looking around for a decent leather corset (must be leather) and am wondering if anyone would be able to give me some feedback on where they have ordered from and their satisfaction (or not) with their purchase.

I have looked at Absolute Corsets and am particularily fond on this one http://www.absolutecorsets.com/overbust-corsets/leather/p-04-leather.htm
It is quite pricey and don't want to put out the $$ without a good review...

I have also been to northboundleather.com and they have a really beautiful Victorian style one there as well...

any feedback would be appreciated..

Northbound is amazing quality and durability in general as far as their leather goes. Haven't had one of their corsets but my pants from them are dreamy. And before someone else mentions them, I love the seller Alter Ego Erotics on E-bay. Budget minded but good quality tight-lacing off the rack corsets in the widest variety of sizes i've ever seen.

I think BBB above has said more or less what I would suggest. I love going into Northbound, their quality is amazing, their prices out of my league, but I love the smell and feel of their leather.
I recently lost all my bookmarks and links and Im slowly getting them back, but Im another fan of Alter Ego Erotics. I found a purple leather one there and I have been in love with it ever since, it feels good, its made well,  it looks awesome. Their customer service was most helpful, and they do my size. I have about five items on my *have to get list*

Best of luck finding what you want

Thanks for the info... I have checked Alter-Ego and agree their prices are much more reasonable for my first-time purchase. Lucy, have you purchased other items from there?

I've got my eye on 3 beautiful corsetsthere. I have messaged them and am anxiously awating their replies

Thanks so much!

jo

I'm having a lovely mottled brown leather corset made by Lace Embrace, but you're quite right, Alter Ego is much more inexpensive. My corset, in the style I chose, will run me $685. To me, it's entirely worth it for a handmade corset with steel boning from a Victorian corsetierre. But then, that's me, and I have the budget for it.

Edited to point out that $685 is for a Custom leather corset, not off the rack.

No help with the corset but you are not alone with the tech problems.

Leather corsets.. and corsets are always a bit pricey.. but well worth it. *smiles*

A lot of work goes into them, and with leather a lot more in material costs as well.

Good luck on your search.

Okay, When are people going to learn and understand that Stormy has been bought by JT's and hasn't been making truly custom corsets for over 2 years. I tried to have one made when I moved out here and it they wouldn't do it. They said they would check with their warehouse to see if they could alter a pattern slightly or make an alteration to a rack corset but they won't do custom corsets anymore.

The OP said nothing in the question about custom corsets , and if they are fitting  an off the rack or altering one from a pattern that is custom work .I would prefer not to buy an off the rack  corset either but it they alter and do custom fitting to you AWESOME ..mejo also view the thread on cheap corsets aswell  some great info there .

Check out http://store.delilahscollection.com/index.html I bought one of theres off ebay before they opened their website. I paid 35.00 for a sheepskin leather corset that is of excellent quality, really suprised me. If i had know the corsets were that good i would have bought 6-7 at that price. Though they are not that cheap now(like 65.00 and up), you just cant beat the price for it. Very good stitching, boning and laces. They arent the super fancy ones from northbound and darkside but for 1/6th the cost you can get a very well made corset. I tightlace mine down everytime i wear it and it shows NO wear whatsoever.

I would have to agree with LadySeraphina regarding the steel boning. It definitely makes a difference - especially in regards to comfortable and durability. I would also suggest going to a specialty shop and getting fitted for a corset, as opposed to just buying one off the internet - once again, the difference is visible.

I can see where price tends to be a problem though. I prefer waist cinches as opposed to full corsets, but even those tend to run around $300...

http://www.badattitude.com/  They make custom corsets and are very comfortable.  I don't have a leather one from them, but my satin underbust is more comfortable than the Volliers one I have.

Thanks for the octaviana link. I have a neck corset i got from her years ago. Its a awesome and well made piece;)
