MizSuz, I still love Ya even if Ya don't love Dubya.

Well thank you. <smile>

What I feel for dubya doesn't come close to love...especially after having just returned from writing the check that was required after his 'tax cuts.' (fyi...I withdraw at single and NONE all year...I shouldn't have to be writing checks at the end of the year.)

April 15 is officially "I hate my government" day. Perhaps we can make April 16 "Where are the WMDs" day.

To quote Michael Murphy, "Dude, where's my country?"

Having said that I think I will use this post right here to pass along a joke I received tonight -

quote:

Three Texas surgeons were playing golf together and discussing
surgeries they had performed.

One of them said, "I'm the best surgeon in Texas. A concert pianist
lost 7 fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and 8 months later
he performed a private concert for the Queen of England."

One of the others said. "That's nothing. A young man lost both arms
and legs in an accident, I reattached them, and 2 years later he won
a gold medal in field events in the Olympics."

The third surgeon said, "You guys are amateurs. Several years ago a
cowboy who was high on cocaine and alcohol rode a horse head-on
into a train traveling 80 miles an hour. All I had left to work with was
the horse's ass and a cowboy hat.

Now he's president of the United States."

This was too good not to post twice!

Have you heard of the NO-CARB Diet for 2004?

NO C-heney
NO A-shcroft
NO R-umsfeld
NO B-ush
and "Absolutely NO RICE!"

This is a diet that will take you successfully through the next election.

Wow, I took that one not long ago and was Liberal (though a little close to Centrist). Now apparently I'm completely Centrist. Guess I don't mind that based on this definition:

quote:

Centrists are ideologically flexible. Centrists recognize the complexity of public policy choices and look to many kinds of solutions. Which solution depends on the circumstances, the problem, and the public interest. Ideologues repeat their slogans with little regard to the specific policy problem at hand. Conservatives shout "private good, public bad." Liberals shout "public good, private bad." By contrast, the centrist movement can show politicians how to use both the private and public sectors (often in combination) to creatively solve problems that we would otherwise just shout about.

Edited for punctuation.

DesertRat -> RE: Political affiliation or designation (9/11/2005 9:49:35 PM)

Good link! I took the test, too. Don't know why, though. I already knew I was a *gasp* liberal. [:D] In favor of total personal freedom (except for guns...gimme that gun!), tight control of corporations, and government safety nets for the disadvantaged. Yep!

But, gee, Centrist sounds so...I dunno...rational and reasonable? It seems to me that the present regime and its ardent supporters would be apt to label Centrists...or anyone who disagrees with them, for that matter...as liberals.

I have heard people in BDSM refer to themselves as socialist. In BDSM we are libertarian if not Libertarian. (The capital "L" is a political party; the small "l" is a political philosophy.)

Of course as a libertarian I respect everyone elses right to be wrong.[:D]

I haven't hear them refer to themselves as socialists, but there are several people here that are- (I'm not sure if they know it or not)

They think it is the "fair" way to think, but what they don't know is that socialism is fundamentally wrong, and that it only brings poverty to countries and their people- not to mention what it does to freedom!!!

And as a liberterian myself I know that I'm right and everybody that doesn't agree with me is wrong!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

Interesting opinion iwill. I am not so sure that there is a prevailing political affiliation in people of bdsm. I am a Republican. But I don't think that has anything to do with my love of bdsm. I loved bdsm even in the past when I was an unenlightened Democrat. Lol.

It's a good thing we wisen up Estring!!!!

Dread,You may not have use the word, but you are a libertarian (or Libertarian). Try this link.

World's smallest political quiz

I took this quiz about years ago and if I were just a little bit more libertarian, I would be outside the shape-

That's your opinion. I am not trying to persuade anyone to my point of view. Just stating my own beliefs....where I stand.

They probably dont call themselves socialists, because they are not - just because they fit what you think a socialist is, doesnt make them one.

I always love the way people try to label others so they can feel better about themselves.

I'm a centrist. I vote the Liberal party in Canada because they are the closest thing W/we have to centrist.

Well, I thought I was a liberal too, but I guess too many of my answers were toward the "there's a gray area" type of response to outrightly qualify.

DesertRat -> RE: Political affiliation or designation (9/12/2005 12:19:01 PM)

Actually, when I lived in Michigan, I used to split my vote. Didn't vote straight ticket. I am not sure if it's the change of location or the changing times, but now I find the Democrats are closest to my views.

Pavel -> RE: Political affiliation or designation (9/12/2005 2:10:27 PM)

I'm a moderate conservative. Basically, that means when I'm visiting my folks in Seattle, people see my views as facist. When I'm back by Idaho for school, people see me as the commie pinko liberal.

I just can't win.

In any event I don't follow any party in particular. The Democrats will always run Washington, regardless of how little they actually care for the rest of the state outside of the Puget Sound. Combine that with the my perception that the Democratic party disconnected from reality when they ran Kerry, and I'm rather pushed away from that group of people. I'm markedly unimpressed by the actions of many Republicans, and just how backward many of them seem to be (It's the 21st century damnit, we can't keep harkening back to times when my grandparents were young and nubile as examples of the way things should be).
