A pregnant woman was tazered on her neck. The vid is fuzzy, the cop says he couldn't tell she was pregnant but... she sure looked pregnant to me even through her heavy coat and child in her arms.

She was on her stomach, with the cop over her. One arm was behind her back and that is when she was tazered. I don't normally swear but this is totally fucked up. Haven't any words except I am stunned, shocked and sickened by seeing this.

There are people who look at Tazing someone or beating them up, shooting them, extorting them, and even raping them, as something they would do if given a chance at a badge and a gun.

And some of them act that way when they are given a little power or authority.

Of course they are going to project that onto all cops.

Other people look at using a weapon on someone as a responsibility fraught with negatives, and a position that one is forced into.  I suspect that those folks are less likely to abuse power, and less likely to 'fear' cops or any other stereotyped group.

It shows that there needs to be a far stricter psychological screening of people who apply for posts in the customs and immigrations and police fields. Too many people are compensating for their minute genitalia (see CuriousLord's thread on the subject) with a thirst for power and authority over helpless members of the public (those of us who are supposed to bow to 'authority').

Have you considered that cops are just doing the best they can in a high-stress/high-risk job?
If they do their job, they're oppressive/untrustworthy/brutal...If they DON'T do their job, they're corrupt and/or a waste of tax-money!
Deadlines aren't an abstraction to them, an IMMEDIATE decision is needed, or the suspect will either escape or hurt them!
And in a confrontation, SOMEONE is going to get hurt: The policeman, the suspect, or some innocent bystander who has that whole "wrong place, wrong time" thing going!
I'd rather have more cops and fewer criminals than the reverse, any day of the week--and probably next week too!

That assumes that the introduction and widespread use of extra-judicial torture ( Tasers ) isn't one of the goals of the neo-conservative Totalitarian State?

The way I see it, they are indicative of the ENDGAME of a Police State, where you can be tortured for "Not Being Obedient" at the whim of any Jackbooted Thug *without* judicial oversight.

States have ALWAYS used thugs to carry out their dirty work, so yes, in the current climate, it's probably truer than ever :-( .

Actually, they said I was "overqualified"...What a surprise: A college graduate overqualified to drag around a gun I'm not allowed to use, get attacked by scum, and sued if/when I fight back!
In the interests of full disclosure, though, police are my best customers: They actually BELIEVE in firewalls and antivirus protection programs, and when they go to an infested Website or download a suspicious attachment, they actually OWN UP to it, which makes the repair process much smoother...
And of course, I do some limited data-recovery for them to track down what little cyber-crime there is out here...
But remember your anti-cop antics the next time you start to whine, "Never a cop around when you need one", or the equivalent!
There's an old saying among the cops that it only takes 2 physical attacks to turn a liberal into a conservative...[;)]

Okay, while I DO believe there are good cops, I also believe any job that offers what some perceive as ‘power’ will attract people who have none.  Funny, those people, when men, also often have small penises, too! 
I’m with you on this one…and figure either will weigh in with their abysmal accusations and vitriol.

The real problem with these cops is how they use the tazer. First of all the rely too heavily on the tazer, better that thanntheir guns, but they seem to thing screw it use the tazer rather than trying to solve it by some other means. Also he tazed her on her neck. I mean who thinks "Hey I'm going to shoot her in the neck with my tazer"? I have seen a few other reports of cops shoooting people above the shoulders with their tazer. One guy actually managed to hit a person in the eye. A tazer has the same effect on people no matter where you shoot them and in training classes they are told not to aim for the head. No for those of you who say it was an mistake they don't mean to taser people in the face, chack and see how the number of not just tazer related but actual tazer "headshot" incdents has risin in the past year.

And yes the lady looked pregnant to me too.

Its supposed to be a nonlethal weapon, lets keep it that way

Thank Camille, I didn't see the second post.  She went to the police station to give up custody of her um, then she tried to leave with him.  I'm guessing if you don't want your um it's a mistake to try and take him back from the police.  You'd think they could subdue her without a taser.

well, you saw how she was trying to flee and had her back to him, and in a cop station.  Guess I'd be fearing for my life if I was that cop, put yourself in his shoes, I mean look at how easy he took her down.
