pinksugarsub -> Seminars to Aid Illegals to Avoid Arrest (11/29/2007 1:34:59 PM)

Contreras-Edin says 200,000 immigrants were deported from the interior of the country last year.

The INS says these seminars, in which Contreras-Edin teaches both legal and illegal immigrants they have rights against search and seizure, self-incrimination and other things, are aiding illegals to continue breaking the law.

What do Y/you think?  Should illegals be taught what rights they enjoy to help aid them to avoid the INS?

Sounds like a great idea for a sting...Invite all the illegals to one place, then nab'em all, rather than having to hunt them down one-by-one!
Since it is a seminar FOR ILLEGALS, doesn't that run afoul of a few Federal laws, mostly the ones about sedition and treason?
I have to say, this is just mind-blowing, a class FOR criminals, rather than just ABOUT them!

There we go again...

Yeah, how about a class for bank robbers?
Epgah, that would come under "harboring" I think.
Illegal aliens really don't have any "rights" in this country.
Any "rights" they have would fall under our *criminal laws* like the right to an attorney etc.

It's got me wonderin', that's for sure, I can't see why they wouldn't try it and see what the SC says if there is a bitch.

I have a suggestion: since you are so interested, why don't you investigate yourself and raid these 'seminars' (though something tells me the story hugely inflated the importance of such gatherings) with a couple of friends, some banners and a demonstration licence?

Since the government cannot legally ask a citizen to produce ID, except under specific circumstances, it is difficult to ask for a Green Card in a public situation such as a seminar. You can hold employers responsible, but neither party is going to do that.

They do not conduct stings, for the same reasons they do not build a fence, that money has already been appropriated for.

And that's a very good thing too.

Yup, that would be called "Harboring" under the U.S. CODE, Title 12. and it's a federal felony offense!
So, that means this guy can be arrested at anytime once he committs that crime.
