Will art end up imitating life? [:D] http://www.theindychannel.com/news/14737126/detail.html  "Doctored mug shots of President George W. Bush and other administration officials are lining a hall of the New York Public Library's main Fifth Avenue branch."  "It is simply inappropriate to have political attack art, in the form of egregious doctored photographs of the president and other high-ranking officials who have dedicated their lives to public service, in a taxpayer-funded building frequented by schoolchildren and the general public," Matthew Walter, director of communications for the New York Republican Party, told the paper.

Hey camille65...I've a great idea for you...why not name your teddy bear Muhammad…make a mug shot of him with your point and shoot then post it on your website.

It seems these type of things do upset people...not me however...[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m16.gif[/image]

Hey Butch, I don't get the point you are trying to get across to me. Could you clarify for me, what it is that you are saying?I have no teddybear, I have no website.I do however have a decaying deer in my front yard [8D] Seriously what is the point in your post?  Some are now calling for her death over the teddybear issue, are you saying that because I posted about an art exhibit that I fall into that camp? I really don't get what you are trying to say.

I wasn't sure of the reason for your initial post...and I was just trying, not too well, to point out the absurdity of the situation in the Sudan and compare it to the freedoms of expression we have and how lucky we are.

Those are pretty crapy Mugg shots. Where is the Height Referance Chart that is suppost to be behind them?

The reason for my post was that I thought it was interesting and yes, the contrast with things going on [everywhere]. That we can put up an exhibit like that one but in so many other places simply speaking against authority is a crime that often comes with shocking punishment.

Perhaps our country should adopt the policies of Sudan, like staying out of other countries' business, and not implementing our military in so many other nations.  Let's try that before we adopt Sudan's policy about freedom of expression.  Furthermore, fantasy art aside, there has already been the Bush Crimes Commission which has convened, and found him guilty of Crimes Against Humanity in a variety of arenas, including the gross neglect of his citizens during Katrina, illegal kidnapping ,detention, denial of the right to counsel, torture and murder of innocent civilians, to name a few.  While the FBI's Most Wanted List is packed with deadbeat dads and burglars, the real damage is being done by political burglars, political thieves, and political deadbeat dads who are putting the US into decades of debt by funneling our reserves into private companies for services the government sector is obligated to do.

I don't have a way to answer that. If everyone ignores everything going on then the corruption and destruction of human rights runs rampant. There needs to be some good guys. I don't mean that the US should be the good guys, that is what I don't have an answer for. Human rights violations go on everywhere including the US so yeah I find it terribly hypocritical that we step into some situations but there are situations out there where someone has to step in!The question is who, who can step in?
