FRSguy -> Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 3:01:07 PM)

In another thread that ran a week or so ago on pail tolerance a woman asked if tolarance would build over time. Many of the responders said that the monthly cycle influenced there tolarable pain threshold.  So my question is how does it effect it.  As in what time durring the cycle to woman find themselves more sensitive and at what times durring the cycle are they less sensitive?    Does this efect your ability to go into subspace?

Depending on when it is, it can actually increase my level of arousal and libido quite substantially which increases my pain tolerance and desire for more intense play.  However, being generally stiff, sore and having certain parts of my body be more sensitive such as my breasts/nipples can decrease it a bit.  Like all things, however, communication and being with someone you know and trust can outweigh most of these things for me.

I've found that women often have very sensitive nipples around ragtime.

hejira92 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 3:27:42 PM)

Usually a woman's pain tolerance is lower around menstruation. When I was having laser hair removal, they would not schedule appointments right before or while I was having my period. She said it was because of the pain tolerance. I did go once right before by accident, and she was right- it was much more painful (but not so much that I couldn't take it [:D]).

I have also found it true with me when Master is playing with me- pain is much nore intense right before my period.

Thanks for the responses.  I ran into a situation where my sub couldnt take something that she normally takes very easily, unfortunatly it was only a few days before she started and she got really upset that she couldnt take it (actually a crop)
She seems to want to become a pain slut but hasnt really verballised it to me but she seems extreamly eager to take more so to speak and like I said gets upset when she cant... I on the other hand have no point of reference on the subject and need to get some in order to treat her effectively so to speak

Sometimes it's just having a bad day and not being able to let go as much too.

DesFIP -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 5:41:09 PM)

I know a woman who says the week before menstruation she would grin if being hit with a two by four. Woe betide her husband/owner if he tried it the week after.

For me, it also depends on how bad the cycle is, how bloated I am. I'm less aroused the week after though.

laurell3 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 5:46:09 PM)

Really?  The week after I would step on old ladies to get to sex.

decstorm37 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 5:51:14 PM)

I know about a week before i start i don't want anything touching my breast. They hurt so bad. The day before i start though i can't get enough sex.

Darkhaven80 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 5:58:06 PM)

My pain tolerance is lowered during that time. My nipples are more sensitive and hate being even gently touched, I feel more sensitive on my skin, etc.  The worst time for me to play , but it does make me very aroused, so I suppose it's the best time to do something else [:D]

feylin -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 6:13:31 PM)

Two or three days before -- simply can't get enough (a bit scary actually, but off-the-chart pleasure).  Rest of the month, tolerance is less than half of that pain.  That is why it is scary..the difference between what I can stand generally versus what I need a few days a month often makes me wonder if I have two different people in here.  I suppose there will be some unscientific, but yet experienced, agreement with that statement. <grins>

That's exactly how I am the day before my period starts, and about seven days after my period ends (thank you, ovulation).

Overall, my pain tolerance is lower during my period.  Typically, my breasts hurt for a few days about a week before my period, but then it eases up.  My nipples are usually more sensitive, but exactly how sensitive they are varies from month to month.  Sometimes they're much too sensitive for play.  Other times, if I'm feeling particularly masochistic, the sensitivity is good.

I'm not sure about pain tolerance, but I'm horny as shit around that time....[:)]

angelslave77 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 7:22:30 PM)

definate increased sensitivity in the week before and a huge jump in sex drive

Willowmoon -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 7:27:48 PM)

My pain tolerance is higher at that time of month. I have often wonder if it is because I tend to get such bad cramps that to deal with those cramps my tolerance goes up. I have been able to take many more strokes of the cane at that time of the month then at any other time.

Oh! I am totally at my horniest the few days before my period. And that's on top of my normal off-the-charts sex drive. And with my pain tolerance down- let's just say Master enjoys himself.

Goddess007 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 7:49:47 PM)

I am not a sub, but I just had to reply to this, especially after what you said...My tolerance for pain, emotional or otherwise, is increased on the days I'm not cramping like a son-of-a-bitch.  (those 2 days are reserved for Goddess pampering ;)  However, the other days, when I am bleeding without pain, I am the meanest Mistress ever.  Perhaps out of spite, combined with hormones, lol!  ANYWHO, the 2 cents I wanted to add is(and I just noticed this) that My sense of smell his VERY heightened in the beginning.  Weird, so I came home from the game and noticed other senses were heightened as well.  Not only was I cranky, bloated, in pain and inconvenienced, I was storming around My apartment in the dark like a feral cat whose nose was offended!  Even the vanilla I was with(who smells EVERYTHING, lol) kept saying what?  What is it?  I have a theory on this if anyone is interested...

Goddess007 -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 7:58:23 PM)

Oh, yeah...so it's almost as if My body is compensating for its weakened state, like an injured animal.  And, since we're having this all-out G/F discussion, I am horniest right after since I knew beforehand it would be awhile til I could cum again...

That cracked me up hard.

On the side-topic of libido, unless in the most serious pain or sickness near and during menstruation my libido stays pretty much the same all month most months... off weeks, ovulation week or menstruation week.  But then there are those months when I do have a variation and that tends to be just before ovulation and mid-menstruation.  When that occurs I change from always-ready to dangerous-to-others-on-the-street.

On the OP:  Yes, my cycle stage effects my pain tolerance, too.  But it depends on that month's intensity of symptoms.  Sometimes I notice when I'm ovulating and around menstruation is torture.  Other months I barely notice either.  And a mismatch.

On those months where I'm having strong menstural symptoms (pre and during), the slightest of things hurt horribly in a way that is very hard for me to process.   If  I'm able to scene at all for pain it has to be a VERY slow and easy build up to get my endorphins properly flowing.   And no, the sensitivity certainly isn't just in the obvious places like breasts, lower back and abdomen... it's everywhere.

Whereas, if I'm close to ovulation and having strong symptoms my tolerance is very high and I subspace easier due to it.

daddyncherry -> RE: Effect of monthly cycle on pain tolerance (11/30/2007 10:56:42 PM)

The one time i was beaten to sobbing was pretty soon before my period...so maybe i am one of those who has a lower pain threshold prior to it.

i'd wondered about that..hmmmm
