pahunkboy -> annoying phone calls! (12/1/2007 10:03:44 AM)

ok- i am on the federal and the state do not call list. the calls were so bad- i changed my number. now almost every day i get a computer calling me- why the heck should i call a toll free number to jump thru voice mail hoops and hope that what ever it is about that the call center helper can help?

anyhow- it took me almost 2 hours to unravle cords in my storage room.  i found the device. lets hope it works!  http://www.telezapper.com/default.asp

I read how it works can't you get the same effect by pressing one of the buttons on your phone to send the disconnected tone?[8|]

If you have had business with a company within a certain time frame, the do not call list does not pertain.

Better than doing a telezapper thing, report the bastards.

Sometimes when its a computer call you can press 1 for a live operator.

Then you can cuss out the operator and tell them to go suck a dogs dick!!

haha

Speaking as a person who assists in the management of a call centre for a living...

REPORT THEM.  PLEASE.

The laws are there for good reason, and despite the stereotype the truth is that most of the people I've met in telecommunications understand that annoying someone doesn't make them buy from you.  Most of the people I know who perform telephone solicitations who appreciate their job will not harass a customer.  However, you get kids working a summer job, or who have personal issues, that slip through the cracks or are given a chance when they shouldn't be.

Perhaps that's just a Canadian perspective, but any -good- telemarketer I've worked with can see the situation from the perspective of those they call, and recognize the futility of disrespecting a customer.  I've disciplined representatives whom I caught being disrespectful to potential consumers, and helped a few more out the door when they are stupid enough to ignore something as basic as DNC - Do Not Call.

A few of us on the "Dark Side" appreciate your viewpoint, pahunkboy. [;)]
